YUMASETTI CASSEROLE

Yumasetti casserole is creamy Amish noodles and ground beef topped with buttered bread crumbs. It's a great one-dish meal!

1 pkg. noodles (12 - 16 oz.)
1 lb. ground beef
1 clove minced garlic
2 Tbs. chopped onion
1 1/2 c. green peas
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1 - 1 1/2 c. sour cream
1 1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
salt to taste, about 3/4 tsp.
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. season-all
6 slices toasted and crumbled bread mixed with 5 Tbs. melted butter

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Cook noodles according to al-dente package directions.
  • Cook and crumble ground beef, onion, and garlic. Drain any excess fat.
  • Mix cream soups, sour cream, cheese, and seasonings. Add noodles, beef, and peas. Stir to mix.
  • Pour noodle mixture into a 9 x 13" greased baking dish.
  • Toast and crumble bread slices and mix with melted butter. Spread the crumbles over the top of the casserole.
  • Bake, covered with foil, for about 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and continue baking for another 20 - 25 minutes. Serve immediately.

1 1/2 lbs hamburger
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 medium onion, chopped
6 garlic cloves, minced
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can tomato soup
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
6 ounces milk
16 ounces egg noodles
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Brown hamburger with brown sugar, salt (to taste), onion, and garlic.
  • Add tomato soup and tomato sauce.
  • Prepare egg noodles according to package directions.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine egg noodles with cream of chicken soup and milk.
  • In a 9x13 dish, place the hamburger mixture on the bottom, topped with half the cheddar cheese, topped with the noodle mixture, then finally topped with the remaining cheddar cheese.
  • Bake covered at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

My Uncle makes this quite often and after a re-union dinner tonight I decided I had better post this. He got this from an Amish friend and it's been a staple of his for many years.

2 lbs hamburger
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can tomato soup, undiluted
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1 (16 ounce) package egg noodles
1 (8 ounce) package processed cheese, such as Kraft or 1 (8 ounce) package Velveeta cheese

Steps:

  • Brown hamburger with salt, pepper, brown sugar and onion.
  • Add tomato soup.
  • Cook egg noodles according to package; Drain.
  • Add cream of chicken soup to egg noodles.
  • Layer hamburger mixture and noodle mixture in 9x12" casserole with processed cheese between layers.
  • Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.

1 can Campbell's Tomato Soup
3 Tbsp brown sugar (estimate)
3 cups egg noodles
1 can Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup
6-8 slices Velveeta Cheese

Steps:

  • Brown hamburger and drain grease. Add tomato soup and brown sugar. Let simmer. Boil egg noodles. Drain. Add cream of mushroom soup.
  • Place hamburger mixture in 9 x 13 pan. Place cheese slices on hamburger mixture and top with noodle mixture.
  • Bake in 350 degrees F oven for about 45 minutes or until top is slightly crunchy and it is bubbling on the sides.

a little brown sugar
1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped onion
1 can(s) tomato soup-undiluted
1 can(s) cream of chicken soup-undiluted
1 pkg 16 oz egg noodles
1 pkg 8 oz processed cheese, like velvetta (i used a little bit more)

Steps:

  • 1. Brown hamburger with salt, pepper, brown sugar and onion, drain, then add tomato soup
  • 2. cook egg noodles, drain, and add the chicken soup to the noodles
