CHURRO CHIP SUNDAE

Vegetable oil, for frying
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
24 wonton wrappers, cut in half to create triangles
1 pint dulce de leche ice cream
1 pint strawberry ice cream
1 pint vanilla ice cream
Canned whipped cream, for topping
12 maraschino cherries
1/2 cup dulce de leche
1/4 cup sprinkles

Steps:

  • For the churro chips: Add 1 to 2 inches vegetable oil to a heavy-bottomed pot. Heat to 350 degrees F.
  • Meanwhile, mix together the sugar, cinnamon and salt in a small bowl, then set aside.
  • When the oil is ready, add the wonton wrappers in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pot. Cook until golden and crisp, about a minute. Remove the chips and toss with a good amount of the cinnamon mixture; you don't want to skimp! Repeat with the remaining wonton wrappers and cinnamon mixture.
  • For the sundaes: Add a scoop of each of the ice creams to a bowl. Add some chips around the edge, crushing a few over the top for good measure. Top with the whipped cream, cherries, dulce de leche and sprinkles. Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make 3 more sundaes.

24 wonton wrappers
butter-flavored cooking spray
1 tablespoon sugar, divded
1/4 cup sugar, divded
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 (8 ounce) package reduced-fat cream cheese
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup chopped pecans
24 maraschino cherries, with stems

Steps:

  • Place wonton wrappers on a work surface; spritz with butter flavored spray. Combine 1 tbsp sugar with cinnamon; srpinkle over wontons. Press into mini muffin cups coated with spray. Bake 350 for 4-5 min till light brown. Immediatley remove wonton cups to an ungreased sheet. Bake 2-3 minutes longer till bottoms are light brown. remove to rack. In a small bowl, beat cream cheese, vanilla and remaining sugar till smooth. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans. Spoon into wonton cups. Top each with a cherry.

These won tons are easy and amazingly good. Trick all of your friends into thinking you are a gourmet in just 20 minutes! Please note! Won tons are best when they are eaten directly after cooking. This recipe can be made in advance, however wait to fry them until just before serving. Wasabi can be found in many common grocery stores and Asian grocery stores.

½ cup sweet hot mustard
¼ cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon wasabi
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2 cups imitation crabmeat
1 medium onion, minced
1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained
1 bunch fresh parsley, chopped
1 (16 ounce) package small won ton wrappers
2 cups vegetable oil

Steps:

  • In a small mixing bowl, combine mustard, soy sauce and wasabi until the wasabi has dissolved. Cover and refrigerate.
  • Place cream cheese in a large bowl (preferably chilled metal). Mix in crab meat, onion, water chestnuts and parsley. Place one spoonful of the mixture in the center of each won ton wrapper. Bring points of the wrapper together (in a triangular shape) and pinch the edges closed. If the edges do not stick together, wet your fingertips lightly with water and pinch the ends together again (this will help to hold the won ton together).
  • Heat oil in a large skillet. When oil is hot, place won tons (approximately 6 at a time) into hot oil. Remove the won tons when they are golden brown. Drain them on a paper towel lined tray. Repeat this process until all won tons are fried. Serve with dipping sauce.
