This easy to make White Queso Dip is like the kind you can find in your favorite Mexican restaurant and it can be made as spicy or mild as you like.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 tsp vegetable oil (omit if not using peppers)
2 jalapeno peppers (diced (omit for mild queso))
1 habanero pepper (minced (omit for medium or mild Queso))
12 oz evaporated milk
1 lb white American cheese (cut into small chunks)
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tomato (diced)
2-5 tbsp milk (if needed)

Steps:

  • Heat a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  • If you are using jalapeños and/or habaneros (otherwise skip to the next step): Add the oil and peppers. Sauté until the peppers begin to char.
  • Add the evaporated milk to the pan and whisk often until it begins to bubble. Add the cheese, cumin, chili powder and salt. Whisk together continuously until the mixture is smooth and fully melted together.
  • Add the diced tomato and stir it in. If you would like your Queso to be thinner, you can add milk a tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.

1 lb. White American Cheese ((from the deli))
1 4-oz. can green chiles
1/3 cup Half and Half ((add more as needed))
3/4 teaspoon garlic salt

Steps:

  • Cut cheese into chunks if in one block. Combine in a microwave-safe bowl with green chiles, Half and Half, and garlic salt.
  • Cook the dip in the microwave for 3 minutes at 60% power. Stir and continue cooking in 1.5-minute intervals at 60% power until completely melted. Add more Half and Half until your desired consistency.
  • Give one final stir and serve with tortilla chips!

1 pound white American cheese, cubed
¾ cup half-and-half
¼ cup diced pickled jalapeno peppers
1 teaspoon pickled jalapeno pepper juice
⅛ teaspoon ground cumin
⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Combine American cheese and half-and-half in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high power in 1 1/2 minute intervals, stirring in between each interval, until melted and creamy, 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Stir in jalapenos, jalapeno juice, cumin, and cayenne. Microwave for 30 seconds. Stir and serve immediately.
