HAMBURGER GOULASH
Goulash over mashed potatoes was my birthday meal of choice when I was growing up. Now I make my mother's tangy recipe for my family, and they like it, too. -Jennifer Willingham, Kansas City, Missouri

- In a Dutch oven, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add the water, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, sugar, salt, mustard and garlic powder. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes. , In a small bowl, combine flour and cold water until smooth; stir into the meat mixture. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve with noodles or potatoes. Freeze option: Freeze cooled meat mixture in freezer containers. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. Heat through in a saucepan, stirring occasionally and adding a little broth or water if necessary.

Steps:
- In a large bowl, combine the ground sirloin, salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder until evenly combined. Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and then shape each into thin square patties. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for 30 minutes.
- Heat a large griddle or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the frozen meat patties on the pan. You might have to cook them in batches. Press down with a spatula and cook for about 4 minutes on the first side. Flip over and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes on the second side. Turn off the pan and place a slice of cheese on top of each patty and allow to melt.
- Toast the buns and place the remaining cheese slices on top of the bottom buns. To assemble the burgers, place a burger patty on top, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. Spread the top buns with mayo and ketchup and place on top of the burgers. Serve immediately.

- Saute beef, 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes and 2 onions in large frying pan. Drain excess fat. Lots of onions makes this good.
- Meanwhile, in another pan cook macaroni in boiling, salted water until tender. Set aside until almost ready to serve.
- When beef and onions are finished cooking, add the canned, crushed tomatores and approximately 1/2 cup water; also add garlic salt, pepper, chili powder and mix well.
- Simmer for about 20 minutes; then add cooked macaroni noodles and mix well when ready to serve. If you add the macaroni noodles too soon, they may over cook and get mushy.

- Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Cook and stir onion in the hot oil until translucent, about 5 minutes. Increase heat to medium-high. Add ground beef, black pepper, and salt; cook and stir until browned and crumbly, about 10 minutes.
- Pour in tomatoes, beef broth, wine, paprika, garlic, Worcestershire, thyme, caraway seeds, rosemary, and bay leaves. Reduce heat to medium and simmer until reduced to a thick, stew-like consistency, about 45 minutes.

- Mix all of the ingredients together except the noodles and cook until onion and celery are tender.
- Add this to 1-lb macaroni noodles or a package of egg noodles which has been cooked.

- Using waxed paper, form the 1/4 pound of beef into a 4-inch square patty. Refrigerate until you're ready to cook. Pre-heat an electric griddle to 375 to 400 degrees. After its ready, toast the bun faces lightly...about 30 seconds. Don't brown as much as the McDonald's or Burger King buns. Set the bun(s) aside. Cook the fresh or thawed burger patty about 3 minutes on the pre-heated griddle, salting the top immediately after laying it down. After 3 minutes, turn the patty over, salt again, and cook for 3 more minutes. While the burger is cooking, dress your toasted top bun in the following order: 1 tablespoon mayonnaise; 1 tablespoon Heinz® ketchup; 3 thin slices Heinz® genuine dills; 2 to 3 rings of fresh sliced white onion; 1 tomato slice; 2 to 3 iceberg lettuce leaves; 5 to 6 squirts of yellow mustard, evenly spaced. After the meat is finished cooking, drain the exess fat by tilting to the side and applying pressure with your free hand. Place the patty on top of the dressed bun, and add the toasted bottom bun.
