I actually like this recipe better than the old recipe for Green Bean Casserole. There is more flavor. Enjoy!

2 can(s) french cut style green beans (drained)
1 medium onions (chopped)
1 tsp sugar
1 can(s) reduced fat cream of mushroom soup
3/4 c reduced fat sharp cheddar cheese
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 c french fried onions

Steps:

  • 1. PREHEAT OVEN 350. SPRAY 8" SQUARE PAN. OPEN GREEN BEANS, DRAIN AND POUR INTO LARGE BOWL.
  • 2. SPRAY NONSTICK SKILLET AND SET OVER MEDIUM HEAT. ADD ONIONS AND SUGAR, COOKING AND STIRRING UNTIL THEY START TO BROWN (5 TO 6 MINUTES). TRANSFER ONION TO BOWL WITH BEANS. )
  • 3. STIR IN SOUP, CHEESE, WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE, AND GARLIC POWDER.
  • 4. POUR INTO BAKING PAN. BAKE 25 MINUTES. SPRINKLE WITH FRENCH FRIED ONIONS AND BAKE UNTIL BROWN (5 MINUTES MORE

2 lbs fresh green beans, snapped
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 (2/3 ounce) package dry good seasons Italian salad dressing mix
1/4 cup low-fat parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Boil beans for 10 minutes; drain and place into a 9x13x2 pan.
  • Mix oil and seasoning packet, pour over beans and toss to coat.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with cheese.
  • Serve immediatly.

  • Put green beans in a steamer basket; set basket in a saucepan over 2.5-cm (1-inch) of boiling water. Cover tightly and steam green beans until crisptender, 4 minutes; drain and rinse well with cold water. Spread green beans on a large clean kitchen towel; pat dry. Transfer to prepared baking dish.
  • To make topping, finely chop 1 shallot. Thinly slice remaining 2 shallots; set aside. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat; add chopped shallot. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and tender, 4 minutes. Add bread crumbs; cook, stirring occasionally, until golden, 3 minutes. Transfer mixture to a large bowl; stir in thyme, 1 ml (1/4 tsp)salt and pepper. Set aside to cool; stir in pecorino.
  • To make sauce, in a microwavable measuring cup, microwave milk on High until hot, 3 minutes; remove and cover to keep warm. (Or heat milk in small saucepan over mediumhigh heat just until small bubbles appear around edge, about 5 minutes. Remove pan from heat; cover and keep hot).
