Wasabi Bloody Mary image

A spicy version of the classic Bloody Mary. Wasabi can be very strong so use according to your taste.

Number Of Ingredients 10

6 oz tomato juice
1 1/2 oz vodka
1 tsp wasabi paste (or less to taste)
lime wedge
freshly ground black pepper to taste
dash worchestershire sauce
dash of hot sauce
ice
celery stalk for garnish
celery salt or bloody mary drink rimmer for rim

Steps:

  • 1. Place the wasabi paste in small bowl. Stir in vodka until blended.
  • 2. Mix the tomato juice, worchestershire sauce, hot sauce, and pepper. Combine with vodka and wasabi mixture.
  • 3. Pour celery salt (or use Bloody Mary drink rimmer) in a saucer. Rub a highball glass rim with the lime wedge. Dip the wet rim in the seasoning.
  • 4. Fill glass with ice. Pour in the cocktail mixture. Squeeze the lime wedge into the glass. Stir and and garnish with the celery stalk.

1 tablespoon mirin
1 teaspoon sugar
Water
1/2 cup canola oil

Steps:

  • In a stainless steel bowl, whisk wasabi, mirin and sugar. Add water until a loose puree is achieved. Whisk in oil. For extra spicy, use less oil.

4 1/2 teaspoons wasabi
6 cups low-sodium V8 juice (V-8)
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/4 teaspoons hot pepper sauce
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups vodka

Steps:

  • Combine lime juice and wasabi with a whisk, until wasabi dissolves.
  • Combine wasabi mixture, veggie juice, Worcestershire sauce, pepper sauce and salt in a pitcher; chill.
  • Stir in vodka and serve over ice.

PICKLED OKRA BLOODY MARY

4 pickled okra spears, brine reserved
4 pimiento-stuffed green olives
4 lime wedges
4 sport peppers
4 cups tomato juice
1 cup vodka
1/2 cup brine from the jar of pickled okra
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
6 dashes hot sauce
4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon horseradish

Steps:

  • For the garnish skewers: Stack each of 4 skewers with an okra spear, olive, lime wedge and sport pepper.
  • For the bloody Mary: Add tomato juice, vodka, brine, lime juice, hot sauce, Worcestershire and horseradish to a pitcher. Stir vigorously to combine. Pour into 4 tall glasses filled with ice. Garnish with skewers.
