Simple and delicious homemade Wafu Dressing, soy sauce base with rice vinegar, roasted sesame seeds, and grated onion to make it extra flavorful.

1 Tbsp grated onion
3 Tbsp neutral-flavored oil (vegetable, rice bran, canola, etc.)
3 Tbsp soy sauce
3 Tbsp rice vinegar (unseasoned)
1 Tbsp sugar
freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp toasted white sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Combine all the ingredients in a bowl or mason jar and whisk everything together. Drizzle on top of a simple salad. Here I prepared hand-torn iceberg lettuce topped with tomatoes, boiled egg, wakame, cucumber, and red radish.

1/2 onion
1 tablespoon dried wakame seaweed
1 cherry tomatoes (optional)
1/2 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon sugar

Steps:

  • Soak dried wakame in a bowl of water for more than 3 minutes. Drain well.
  • Mix vinegar, olive oil, soy sauce and sugar to make sauce.
  • Slice onion finely and place in the sauce.
  • Add wakame and mix well. Can serve immediately or allow to meld for up to two days in refrigerator.
  • Decorate with sliced cherry tomato.
