In my search for a good Vidalia onion salad dressing recipe, I came across this. Adapted from CDKitchens.

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 medium vidalia onion, grated (or other sweet onion)
3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons olive oil

Steps:

In a small saucepan, mix the first four ingredients. Add grated onion (small to medium, depending on your taste), add the olive oil and vinegar. Heat until sugar is melted. Cool and refrigerate.
Reheat and use to wilt lettuce or serve cold on salad. Keeps in refrigerator indefinitely. Enjoy!

1 large sweet onion, peeled and quartered
1 clove garlic
⅓ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground mustard

Steps:

Place the oil, vinegar, onion, garlic, sugar, mustard and salt into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.

Using a medium saute pan, heat the 2 tablespoons of olive oil on medium heat. Add the onions to the pan and allow the onions to caramelize until golden brown, about 10-12 minutes. Once the onions have caramelized, set aside and allow to cool.
Using a food processor, add the onions, vinegar, honey, dry mustard, grated garlic cloves, celery seed, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Pulse the ingredients and slowly pour in the olive oil. If the dressing is too think for your liking, continue to pour little amounts of oil to thin the dressing.
Sprinkle the 2 ounce steak with salt and pepper on both sides. Using another medium saute pan and place on medium to high heat and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Sear the steak for 3-5 minutes on both sides. Allow the steak to rest before slicing.
