Velveeta mac and cheese is a hearty and heartwarming meal!

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
½ teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
1 cup milk
½ pound Velveeta (cubed)
2 cups elbow macaroni (measured dry (approx. 8 ounces))
½ cup sharp cheddar
¼ cup panko breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon melted butter
2 tablespoons cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Cook macaroni al dente according to package directions. Drain.
  • Melt butter, flour, mustard powder, and onion powder in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook 1-2 minutes.
  • Add milk a little at a time whisking after each addition. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cook 2-3 minutes.
  • Stir in cubed Velveeta and continue stirring until melted and creamy. Remove from heat and add sharp cheddar. Stir in macaroni.
  • Spread macaroni into a 2QT baking dish. Combine topping ingredients in a small bowl and sprinkle overtop.
  • Bake 20 minutes or until hot and crumbs are golden.

I got this off a box of Velveeta Cheese when I saw it made on Good Morning America. The recipe is exact, i haven't changed it. I usually buy the large block of Velveeta cheese and store any unused cheese in ziploc bags, so I'm forever searching for the recipe. It's easy and fast. My family swears it tastes just like KFC! You can also put the Macaroni and Cheese in a greased casserole dish and make a topping out of 1 sleeve of crushed Ritz Crackers and 1 stick of melted butter. Combine and then sprinkle on top of casserole. Bake in 350 degree oven till top is golden brown.

  • Return pasta to pot and add cheese, milk and pepper. Stir constantly over low heat until cheese is melted.

Steps:

  • HEAT oven to 350°F. Melt butter in medium saucepan on medium heat. Whisk in flour; cook 2 min., stirring constantly. Gradually stir in milk; cook until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly. Add Velveeta; cook 3 min. or until melted, stirring frequently. Stir in macaroni. SPOON into 2-L casserole sprayed with cooking spray; sprinkle with Cheddar and cracker crumbs. Cover. BAKE 20 min. or until heated through. Kraft Kitchens Tips Special Extra Stir in 2 Tbsp. 1/4 cup butter, divided
1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk (for a more rich taste use evaporated milk for part of the milk)
1/4 lb Velveeta cheese, cut up
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
2 cups elbow macaroni, cooked, drained
2 tablespoons seasoned dry bread crumbs (optional)

Steps:

  • Melt 3 tablespoons of the butter in large saucepan on low heat.
  • Blend in flour and salt; cook and stir 1 minute.
  • Gradually add milk; cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  • Add prepared cheese product and 1-1/2 cups of the shredded cheese; stir until melted. Stir in macaroni.
  • Pour into lightly greased 1-1/2-quart casserole.
  • Melt remaining 1 Tablespoon butter; toss with bread crumbs.
  • Sprinkle casserole with remaining 1/2 cup cheese and bread crumb mixture.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
