8 whole peppercorns
1/2 teaspoon whole allspice
2 cardamom pods
1 cinnamon stick (3 inches)
4 whole cloves
8 tea bags
1 tablespoon honey
4 cups boiling water
2 cups 2% milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1-1/2 teaspoons confectioners' sugar
Ground allspice

Steps:

  • Place the first 5 ingredients in a large bowl. With end of a wooden spoon handle, crush mixture until aromas are released. Add tea bags, honey and boiling water; steep, covered, 6 minutes., In a small saucepan, heat milk. Strain tea into a heatproof pitcher; stir in milk and vanilla., In a small bowl, beat cream until it begins to thicken. Add confectioners' sugar; beat until soft peaks form. Top servings with whipped cream; sprinkle with allspice.

1 cup boiling water
2 teaspoons loose black tea or one tea bag
1 teaspoon honey, white sugar or brown sugar
1/2 cup milk of your choice
1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Dash of cinnamon plus more for sprinkling

Steps:

  • Add loose tea to a teapot with strainer, or add teabag to mug.
  • Pour boiling water over tea and steep for 4-5 minutes if using loose tea, or 2 minutes for a tea bag.
  • While tea steeps, add vanilla and cinnamon to the milk and heat on the stove or in the microwave.
  • If using loose tea, strain and pour into a mug. If using tea bag, remove from mug.
  • Add sweetener to brewed tea and stir until dissolved.
  • Froth the warm spiced milk with a milk frother.
  • Add milk mixture to sweetened tea and sprinkle with a dash more cinnamon.

1 -2 vanilla flavored black tea bags
4 tablespoons powdered milk
4 cm vanilla beans or 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
artificial sweetener, to taste (any can be used, from hypocaloric to plain or flavoured sugar, to honey or syrup...use your immagina)
1 liter boiling water

Steps:

  • Put powdered milk, vanilla bean (split in two and seeds scraped out in the pot) and sweetener in a teapot.
  • Pour 2 tbsp of the boiling water in the teapot and mix well with a spoon, you should get a smooth paste (it is important that you do this or the powdered milk might sort of "curdle", don't ask me why but it does it!).
  • Add the teabag(s) to the teapot and pour remaining boiling water, mixing well; let steep 5-7 minutes (or longer if you like a stronger tea flavour).
  • Strain to get rid of the vanilla pieces (you don't need to do it if you use vanilla essence, of course).
  • If you have a milk "frother" you can use it to have a lightly foamy version (I suggest you do it directly in the serving mug/cup, or the light froth won't last).
  • A stronger-adult version can be made by substituting vanilla bean/essence with a vanilla flavoured liqueur.
  • Or, you can just add it.
  • Sip preferably on a comfy couch, cuddled up under a blanket with a good book, a pet, and a nice background music-- enjoy!

1 quart boiling water

Steps:

  • Pour the milk into a saucepan, add the vanilla, and bring to a simmer, stirring often.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and let it stand until the milk is cool.
  • Place the tea leaves in the teapot and add the boiling water.
  • Cover with a towel and steep 5 minutes.
  • Pour about 1/4 cup of the cooled milk into the teacups. Stir and strain the tea into the cups.

1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 teaspoon honey (up to 1 tablespon or more, to taste) (can sub pure maple syrup for vegan version)
1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger (can sub 1-2 teaspoons fresh grated ginger, to taste)
1 5- inch cinnamon stick (can sub 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon coconut oil (optional*)
Pinch freshly ground black pepper*
1/2 vanilla bean (seeds scraped and entire bean added)
2-3 cardamom pods (crushed)
1 star anise
Pinch ground cayenne pepper
Pinch freshly ground nutmeg
Black peppercorns

Steps:

  • Set a small saucepan over low heat. Add the almond milk, 1 teaspoon honey, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon stick, and black pepper and stir with a whisk until combined.
  • Bring to steaming, just below a simmer. Do not let it come to a boil. Keep just below a simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat. Remove the cinnamon stick. If you added other spices that need to be strained out, strain using a fine mesh strainer then return to the pan. Stir in the vanilla and coconut oil (if using). Taste and add additional honey if desired (I like about 2 teaspoons).
  • Use a frother to froth the tea, if desired. Pour into a mug and spoon the froth over the top. Serve.
