Steps:

  • Pour the milk into a microwave-safe mug. Stir together the cinnamon and sugar, then stir into the milk. Mixing the cinnamon into the sugar first will help to keep it from floating on top. Stir in the vanilla. Place mug in the microwave and heat for 1 minute and 40 seconds, or longer for a warmer drink. Stir before drinking.

Steps:

  • Fill an airtight container with bourbon.
  • Add in oranges. Split the vanilla bean down the middle using a paring knife and open the edges like a book to expose the vanilla bean to the bourbon. Add the vanilla bean.
  • Store in a dark place for about four weeks. Use as you would regular bourbon. Enjoy!

4 cups whole milk
2 cups whipping cream or 2 cups heavy cream
2 vanilla beans (about 4-6 inches long)
14 ounces bittersweet chocolate or 14 ounces semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
sugar (optional)
whipped cream

Steps:

  • In a heavy large saucepan, heat the milk and cream over medium heat until hot, but not boiling. Remove from heat. Using the tip of a paring knife, slit the vanilla beans down the center. Using the side of the knife, scrape the seeds. Place seeds and vanilla pods into the hot milk mixture. Cover and chill. Allow the vanilla pods to infuse their flavor into the milk for at least 2 hours. Or, transfer mixture to a container with a tight-fitting lid and chill in the refrigerator overnight. Remove the vanilla pods and using two fingers press the milk out of the bean to extract all the seeds; discard.
  • When ready to make the hot chocolate, heat the milk mixture over medium heat until hot, but not boiling. Add the chocolate. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and chocolate is melted. Add sugar to sweeten, if you like. Top with whipped cream. Makes 15 servings (about 4 ounces each).

My go-to, 5-minute vegan hot chocolate made with simple ingredients you always have on hand. Creamy, luxurious, and surprisingly healthy.

1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 Tbsp dairy-free semisweet chocolate ((chips or bar // chopped))
Sweetener of choice
1/8 tsp peppermint extract
Coconut whipped cream

Steps:

  • Add almond milk to a large mug and microwave for 1 minute. Alternatively, add to a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Once milk is warm, add cocoa powder, chocolate and sweetener and whisk to combine.
  • Put back in microwave or continue cooking on stovetop until completely combined and has reached your preferred temperature.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
  • Lastly, add in your extract of choice - I think peppermint is truly unbeatable. Stir, and top with coconut whipped cream.
