CLASSIC CLUB SANDWICH

Classic Club Sandwich image

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     main-dish

Time 10m

Yield 4 main-course servings.

Number Of Ingredients 10

12 slices white bread
3/4 cup mayonnaise
8 romaine lettuce leaves
16 slices vine-ripened tomatoes
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
16 slices crispy cooked bacon
16 ounces sliced roasted turkey
16 frill picks, or plastic cocktail swords
Potato chips
Sweet pickles

Steps:

  • Toast the bread in a toaster, or under a broiler on both sides. Cut the lettuce leaves in half crosswise and form into 8 neat stacks.
  • To make a double-decker club: On a clean work surface, arrange 3 bread slices in a row. Spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise over 1 side of each bread slice. Place a lettuce stack on top of the first bread slice, top with 2 tomato slices, and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Place 2 slices bacon over the tomatoes (broken to fit neatly if necessary) and top with 1/8 of the turkey (without letting any hang over the sides). Season the turkey with salt and pepper, to taste. Repeat with the second bread slice. Carefully place the second layered bread slice on top of the first layered bread, turkey side-up. Cover with the third bread slice, mayonnaise side-down.
  • Pin the sandwich's layers together by piercing them with 4 frill picks or cocktail swords through the top bread slice, in 4 places in a diamond-like pattern, all the way to the bottom bread slice. Repeat entire process with the remaining ingredients to form 3 more sandwiches.
  • Using a serrated knife cut each sandwich, diagonally, into 4 triangular pieces (each piece should be secured in the center with a pick or sword). Serve with potato chips and pickles.

CLUB SANDWICH (TURKEY, HAM, BACON)

Club Sandwich (Turkey, Ham, Bacon) image

A club sandwich is a delicious deli classic, and it is s easy to make yourself at home. Turkey, ham, bacon, Colby jack cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo on wheat toast.

Provided by Marjorie @APinchOfHealthy

Categories     Sandwich

Time 12m

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 slices wheat bread ((or bread of choice))
2 Tablespoons mayo ((I recommend Duke's, Hellmann's or Trader Joe's))
lettuce
tomato slices
salt and pepper to taste ((on the tomatoes))
2 ounces sliced deli ham
2 ounces sliced turkey
2 slices bacon (cooked)
1 slice Colby jack cheese ((or cheese of choice - cheddar and Swiss work great too))

Steps:

  • Toast your bread, if you wish, and allow it to cool for a few minutes. This helps to avoid wilted lettuce.
  • Spread the 3 pieces of cooled toast with mayo.
  • On one slice, add your lettuce and tomato. Go ahead and add a little salt and pepper to those tomatoes.
  • Put a 2nd piece of bread, mayo side down, on the sandwich. Then add a little more mayo to the top of that piece.
  • Next, stack your meat and cheese, and top with the last slice of bread, mayo side down.
  • Use a well-sharpened knife to cut the sandwich into triangles, using toothpicks to hold everything together.
  • To up the visual game of your club sandwich, turn everything on its side to show all the pretty layers.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

  • Bacon. At 400℉ bake 4-8 strips of bacon. Flip at five minutes and drain on a paper towel after 8-10.
  • Honey Mustard Sauce. Mix equal parts plain yellow mustard and honey together. Quantity depends on how much you like to use but approximately 1 tbsp of each will easily do 3-6 sandwiches.
  • Lettuce & Tomato. Tear up a couple of leaves of lettuce and cut two slices of tomato per sandwich.
  • Layering. Different Tim Horton's locations layer the sandwich slightly differently and it doesn't seem to matter which is up or down... The most common arrangement (starting from top or bottom) is; honey mustard, bacon, turkey, tomato, lettuce.
  • Enjoy & Adapt. Once you've enjoyed the turkey bacon club from home with fresh ingredients there's a good chance you won't want to pay for the original ever again.
