This is a recipe I found on the net and saved to try. It was originally from a caterer named Barbie. I love it. The secret ingredients that make this so yummy are the curry and parmesan. ( The dill is great too.) Now I never put either of those in my tuna before but it mixed oh so well. Try it on crackers or in a sandwich. Our family gobbles it up. Enjoy. ChefDLH

1 (7 ounce) can solid white tuna, drained and flaked
6 tablespoons mayonnaise or 6 tablespoons salad dressing
1 tablespoon parmesan cheese
3 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
1/8 teaspoon dried minced onion flakes
1/4 teaspoon curry powder
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried dill weed
1 pinch garlic powder

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, stir together the tuna, mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, and onion flakes. Season with curry powder, parsley, dill and garlic powder. Mix well and serve with crackers or on a sandwich.

This twist on a well-loved Bobby Flay recipe creates a tuna steak meal with a bright, fresh twist that's easy on your weeknight schedule, too.

¼ red onion, chopped
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
½ teaspoon sugar
1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt, divided
2 teaspoons olive oil
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 mango, chopped
5 sprigs fresh mint
¼ cup fresh parsley
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 to 1 ½ pounds tuna steak, 1 inch thick
1 tablespoon canola oil
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Heat the grill to medium heat.
  • Finely chop the red onion and place it in a medium bowl.
  • Add the red wine vinegar, sugar, and ½ teaspoon kosher salt to the onion. Set the onion mixture aside.
  • Heat the olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat until it is hot, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Add the ground cinnamon to the oil and stir.
  • Allow the cinnamon to bloom in the oil for 4 to 6 minutes until it is fragrant. Remove from the heat immediately, pour the cinnamon oil over the red onions, and stir.
  • Turn the grill to high heat.
  • Dice the mango into ½-inch pieces and add to the onion mixture.
  • Finely chop the mint and parsley and add to the mango mixture.
  • Add the crushed red pepper flakes to the mixture, then stir all of the ingredients to combine and set the salsa aside.
  • Brush canola oil on both sides of the tuna and season with the remaining 1 teaspoon of kosher salt and the black pepper.
  • Grill the tuna for 2 to 3 minutes per side. It will easily come off the grill with a metal spatula when it is ready to turn. If it is sticking, leave it on the grill.
  • Take the tuna off the heat and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Thinly slice the tuna and serve it with mango salsa spooned on top.

1 loaf of ciabatta
1 container of garlic and herbs spreadable pub cheese (we used President Authentic Pub Cheese Spreadable Cheese)
2 cans of tuna in oil, drained then flaked
1 large tomato sliced and then halved
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 medium red onion sliced
1 tablespoon of Aged Balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup of baby spinach leaves
Salt and Pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Cut the ciabatta loaf long ways.
  • Spread with the pub cheese on both sides of the bread.
  • Add the flaked drained tuna on one side of the cheese. Add salt and pepper.
  • Add the halved tomato slices and lay on top of the tuna.
  • Add the parsley on top of the tomato slices.
  • Add the red onion slices on top.
  • Drizzle 1 tablespoon of Aged Balsamic vinegar on top.
  • Top with baby spinach leaves and then add the other half of the ciabatta loaf.
  • Serve with your favorite side dish.
