This takes only 10 minutes and tastes like it came from a 5 star restaurant! This tuna tar tar is just amazingly simple and outstanding!

1 pound sushi grade tuna, finely diced
3 tablespoons olive oil
¼ teaspoon wasabi powder
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
⅛ teaspoon cracked black pepper
sliced French bread

Steps:

  • In a bowl, stir together olive oil, wasabi powder, sesame seeds, and cracked black pepper. Toss tuna into mixture until evenly coated. Adjust seasoning as desired with additional wasabi powder or black pepper. Serve on sliced French bread.

This is a FUN recipe to make and it is a relatively inexpensive but elegant-looking appetizer to serve. From Mr. Food's Southern Cookbook. Can also be made with canned chunk chicken and other types of nuts.

2 (6 ounce) cans tuna, drained and flaked
3/4 cup chopped peanuts
1 (3 ounce) package softened cream cheese
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
1 (7 1/2 ounce) package refrigerated biscuits (10 biscuits)
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400.
  • Combine tuna, mayonnaise, peanuts, cream cheese, mustard and garlic powder until well blended.
  • Flour a work surface and a rolling pin.
  • Roll out each biscuit to a 5-inch circle.
  • Line 10 muffin cups into flattened, mini-crusts.
  • Fill the crusts with tuna mixture.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes at 400 or until crusts are golden, and serve warm.

CREAMY TUNA TART



Creamy Tuna Tart image

As my DS does not like Tuna, I take any chance to try something different when he is not home and usually want something that is quick and so easy. Ahh well, when the kids are away....lol ;-) Found this recipe from Kraft, and it works quite well with salad & I think would work really well in winter with vegetables...... although I think a nice salsa or sauce would go really well with it also. Which I will add next time.

425 g tuna, drained (chunks in springwater)
250 g cream cheese, cubed and softened
310 g corn kernels, drained
1/2 cup grated tasty cheese
4 spring onions, finely chopped
1/4 cup flat leaf parsley, chopped
freshly ground black pepper, to taste
2 sheets puff pastry, partially thawed
milk, for glazing

Steps:

  • Pre-heat youtr oven to 200ºC. Combine the tuna, cream cheese, corn, tasty cheese, spring onions, parsley and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Lay one puff pastry sheet on benchtop. Spread tuna mixture over one half of the pastry, leaving a 2cm border from the edge. Using a sharp knife, cut 6 x 4cm slits in the other side of pastry. Fold over filling and seal at edges. Repeat with remaining pastry and filling for another slice.
  • Brush pastry with milk and bake for 20 minutes, or until golden.
  • Cut into slices to serve with green salad and or vegatables.

1 cup thinly sliced onions
2 tablespoons butter, divided
1 (17.5 ounce) package frozen puff pastry, thawed
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour for dusting
1 egg, beaten
1 cup button mushrooms, quartered
2 tablespoons red wine
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 (5.2 ounce) package herb and garlic-flavored cream cheese
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 (5 ounce) can Bumble Bee® Solid White Albacore Tuna in Water
1 (7.5 ounce) jar marinated artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
1 sprig Chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon Chopped fresh chives

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Place 1 tablespoon butter in a non-stick skillet and add onions. Cook over low heat for thirty minutes until onions develop a light brown color.
  • While onions are cooking, on a lightly floured piece of parchment paper, unfold 1 sheet of pastry and roll into a rectangle, about 10 inches by 12 inches and place on a baking sheet. Lightly brush the entire pastry rectangle with beaten egg.
  • Unfold the other sheet of pastry and cut four 1 inch strips from the longest side. Place each strip along each edge of egg-washed pastry, forming a thicker edge. Discard unused pastry. Lightly brush strips with beaten egg. Reserve remaining egg. Pierce pastry inside formed edges several times with a fork.
  • Place pastry in the pre-heated oven and bake for 8 minutes, rotate pan and continue baking for another 8 minutes. Remove pastry from oven and allow to cool slightly.
  • In a separate pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter, add mushrooms, wine, salt and pepper, and cook over medium heat until the mushrooms are tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
  • While mushrooms are cooking, whisk together the remaining beaten egg, herb cheese and cream until smooth. Carefully spread cheese mixture over pastry. Distribute onions, mushrooms, artichokes and tuna evenly over the cheese mixture.
  • Return to the oven and bake 20 minutes, or until the crust is brown and the cheese mixture is set.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle either snipped parsley or snipped chives. Cut into 9 equal pieces and serve.

  • Stand a 1 1/2-inch-tall and 2 1/4-inch-round mold or a biscuit cutter in the center of a salad plate. Fill the mold with tuna tartare, pressing gently. Lift off the mold. Repeat with the remaining tartare.
  • Drizzle the remaining ginger oil around each tartare and sprinkle with the tomato, the remaining tablespoon of cilantro and a squeeze of lemon juice. Stand 5 potato chips in a circular pattern in each tartare and serve immediately.
