These superfood energy balls take a mere 7 ingredients and only 10 minutes to whip up. Make a batch today and you'll have a portable healthy snack option for the week!

1 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 cup almond butter
1/4 cup ground flaxseed
2 Tablespoons superfood berry mix or favorite dried fruit
3 medjool dates (pitted)
1 Tablespoon maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps:

  • Combine dates, almond butter and maple syrup in food processor and pulse until dates are fully chopped and everything is combined.
  • In a bowl mix together oats, flax, dried fruit and cinnamon. Add date and almond butter mixture and stir until fully combined.
  • Roll into 1 inch balls. Place balls into an airtight container and store in the fridge or freezer for snacking throughout the week.

4 cups very hot tap water
1 cup white granulated sugar

Steps:

  • Boil your water on the stove for 1 minute.
  • Remove the water from the stove and stir in the sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Allow the mixture to come to room temperature.
  • Fill your humming bird feeder as directed on individual instructions.
  • Store leftover sugar water in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

NORTHERN ONTARIO PARTRIDGE (RUFFED GROUSE)

This was my Scottish grandmother's recipe for partridge, also commonly known as ruffed grouse. Partridge breasts are seared in bacon grease, then roasted in a simple wine sauce and served with a rich gravy.

4 boneless partridge breast halves
8 slices bacon
1 cup chicken broth
toothpicks
1 cup white wine
2 shallots, chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
freshly ground black pepper to taste
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the slices of bacon in the skillet and fry until they have released their juices, but are not crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside. Place the partridge breast halves into the pan, and brown them quickly, about 2 minutes per side.
  • Remove the partridge pieces, and wrap each one with two slices of bacon. Secure with toothpicks. Pour enough of the drippings from the skillet into a baking dish to cover the bottom. Place the partridge pieces into the dish along with the chicken broth, white wine, shallots, garlic, salt and black pepper.
  • Roast uncovered for 45 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove drippings from the baking dish using a turkey baster, and place in a saucepan. Whisk in the flour, and cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened. Serve gravy with partridge.

3 ounce deli-style turkey
2 lrg sourdough bread slices Butter softened
2 slc processed Swiss cheese
2 slc bacon cooked
2 slc tomato French Fries Pickles

Steps:

  • Heat skillet over medium heat. Grill turkey breast without separating the stack till the meat is golden on both sides. As meat is browning, butter bread on one side of each. Place in pan butter-side down. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on unbuttered side. Put turkey on Swiss cheese. Sprinkle with salt. Place bacon on breast. Stack tomato on bacon. Top off with remaining sourdough slice, unbuttered side toward tomatoes. When golden flip. After 2 mintues remove and serve, sliced into 3 equal size pcs. This recipe yields 1 serving.

3 -4 slices deli turkey
2 slices bacon, cooked
2 slices swiss cheese
2 -3 slices roma tomatoes or 2 -3 slices beefsteak tomatoes
2 slices sourdough bread
butter, softened

Steps:

  • Cook bacon and set aside.
  • Heat some butter in non-stick pan over medium heat and Grill turkey breast stack without separating until the meat is golden brown on both sides, remove& set aside.
  • butter bread lightly on one side of each slice, Place in pan butter-side down.
  • Place a slice of Swiss cheese on unbuttered side, put turkey on Swiss cheese, Sprinkle with salt (optional).
  • Place bacon strips on breast and Stack tomato on top of bacon, Top off with remaining sourdough slice, unbuttered side toward tomatoes.
  • When golden brown flip.
  • After 2 mintues remove and serve, sliced into 3 equal size pieces -- Ya !
