Steps:
- Place eggs in a pot. Cover with cold water until the eggs are covered by about 1 inch (2 cm) of water.
- Bring to a boil, uncovered. Once boiling, take off the heat.
- Cover and cook for 4-16 minutes, depending on preference (4-6 minutes for soft-boiled, 8-10 minutes for medium-boiled, 12-16 minutes for hard-boiled). In the meantime, fill a large bowl with ice and cold water, creating an ice bath.
- Once eggs reach desired cook-time, immediately remove the eggs from pot and place in the ice bath. Allow eggs to cool for 10-15 minutes.
- To peel, lightly tap the eggs on a flat surface, then gently roll back and forth (taking extra care with soft-boiled eggs).
- Pull away the loosened shell and peel any remaining pieces.
- Serve as is or incorporate into your favorite recipe that requires hard-boiled eggs.
- Enjoy!

KEN'S PERFECT HARD BOILED EGG (AND I MEAN PERFECT)
Couldn't sleep one night so I researched several ways to hard boil eggs and developed this process. While you do not taste the vinegar or salt, they both pull the skin from the eggshell so it peels easily without tearing or sticking. Family members call them 'Ken's Eggs'. Enjoy!

Steps:
- Place the eggs in a saucepan and add enough cold water to cover.
- Bring the water to a boil and immediately turn off the heat. Let the eggs sit in the pan for 15 minutes.
- Remove the eggs to a bowl and allow to rest for at least 2 minutes. When the eggs are cool enough to handle, crack the eggs on each side and then roll them back and forth with your hand, breaking up the shell. Remove and discard the shell.
THE PERFECT BOILED EGGS
Steps:
- Put the eggs in a large pot with a lid. Pour cool water over the eggs until fully submerged and add the baking soda to the water. Put the pot over high heat and bring to a boil. Once the water is at a rolling boil, turn off the heat and cover the pot with the lid. Allow the eggs to sit in the hot water for the following times according to the desired doneness: 3 minutes for SOFT boiled; 6 minutes for MEDIUM boiled; 12 minutes for HARD boiled.
- Prepare a bowl of ice water. Transfer the cooked eggs to the ice water to cool completely before peeling.
PERFECT HARD BOILED EGGS
This is how I make hard boiled eggs. This will help not to get a gray egg yolk. You may have a bit of gray around the edges, but your yolks will turn out yellow and creamy.

THE EASIEST PERFECT HARD BOILED EGGS (TECHNIQUE)
There are many ways that work well to boil eggs such as adding salt (who needs that extra salt?), using a needle to poke a hole in the eggs (way too tedious and unnecessary), adding ice or vinegar for easy peeling, etc., etc., etc. Unfortunately, those methods are all too time consuming for most people. I've been using this technique since I was a teenager (so long ago). This technique is perfect and the absolute simplest above all the others. Oh, and no utensils needed either, how cool is that!?! :) A similar method for pasta is Recipe #30358

Steps:
- Place eggs in medium saucepan. Cover with water 1" above the eggs. Place on stovetop over high heat.
- Bring to a boil. Immediately remove from heat and cover. Let sit 18-20 minutes.
- Pour cold tap water into pot allowing the hot water out by holding the pot on a slant. Let eggs sit in cold water for 1-2 minutes, then peel easily.
- NOTE: (no garbage disposal/shells for gardening method) I peel the eggs under running cold water with a colander underneath to catch the shells. I placed the eggs onto paper towels to rid excess moisture for egg salad, OR place peeled eggs into a bowl of cold water, cover and refrigerate where they keep for about 4-5 days.
PERFECT HARD-BOILED EGGS
I believe this to be the perfect recipe for hard-boiled eggs. The eggs peel so easily, most can be peeled in one simple motion. The egg yolk itself is a nice yellow color without the greenish tinge that sometimes occurs when making hard-boiled eggs.

Steps:
- Place eggs in a single layer in a heavy saucepan and cover with cold water by at least 1 inch. Add 1 teaspoon salt (Salting the water helps minimize leaks if the eggs crack in the pan; the egg whites coagulate and seal off the crack more quickly). Turn the heat to high. As soon as the water comes to a gentle boil, turn off the heat and cover the pan.
- For creamy yolks, remove the lid after 10 minutes and run cold water over eggs for 1 minute. Set aside to cool at room temperature. For firmer yolks, leave the eggs to cool in the cooking water, uncovered, for up to 2 hours. To test if an egg has been cooked, spin it on a counter. A hard boiled egg spins faster than a raw egg.
- To peel, gently tap a boiled egg against the counter, turning and tapping to make a crackle pattern. Start peeling at the broad end, where there is an air pocket. Running the egg under cold water is not necessary, unless they are too hot to handle.

HOW TO MAKE PERFECT HARD-BOILED EGGS - THE SPRUCE EATS
From thespruceeats.com
Estimated Reading Time 4 mins
- Precision Is Key. Hard-boiled eggs make a great snack or addition to salads, sandwiches, or wraps. Although boiling an egg may seem simple, precise timing is needed to yield a perfectly hard-boiled egg with no cracks or unsightly green yolks.
- Place the Eggs in a Pot. Choose the size of your pot based on how many eggs you will be cooking. For even heating, the eggs should be placed in a single layer on the bottom of the pot; do not stack the eggs.
- Cover the Eggs With Water. Cover the eggs with cold water. To ensure even heating, the water should cover the eggs by at least 1 inch. Placing 1 tablespoon of vinegar in the water will help keep the egg white from spilling out if a shell cracks but may also add a slight flavor.
- Heat the Eggs. Place the pot over medium-high heat, without a lid, and allow it to come to a rolling boil, which is indicated by large, vigorous bubbles.
- Cover the Pot. After removing the pot from the heat, place a lid on top and let it sit undisturbed. This is where your timing needs to be precise. If the eggs sit in the hot water too long, they will overcook and end up with a green yolk.
- Ice Bath. When the timer goes off, carefully remove the eggs from the pot with a spoon and place them into a bowl full of ice and water. The ice bath will cool the eggs quickly and stop the cooking process.
- Peel the Egg. To peel the egg, lightly tap it on a hard surface to crack the shell. Once the shell is cracked all the way around, it should easily peel away from the egg.
