Number Of Ingredients 12

1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup chili powder
1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
1-1/2 pounds pork chop suey meat or pork tenderloin, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
3 medium green peppers, chopped
2 large onions, chopped
12 sandwich buns, split
Lettuce and tomatoes, optional

Steps:

  • In a 5-qt. slow cooker, combine the first six ingredients. Stir in beef, pork, green peppers and onions. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until meat is tender., Shred meat with two forks. Serve on buns, with lettuce and tomatoes if desired.

Yield Makes about 3 cups

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 tablespoons onion powder
2 tablespoons garlic powder
Two 6-ounce cans tomato paste
2 tablespoons paprika
2/3 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons maple syrup
2 tablespoons kosher salt
2 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and pulse a couple of times to thoroughly combine. Pour the mixture into a medium saucepan and place over medium heat. Stir continuously until the sauce is heated through, but do not allow it to come to a boil. Remove the pan from the heat. Use the sauce immediately as you like, or, if reserving for a later use, allow the mixture to cool, then pour it into a large bottle or container and store, tightly covered and refrigerated, for up to 1 year.

2 tablespoons Scotch whiskey
1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon ground ginger
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion salt
½ teaspoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
1 ½ tablespoons white sugar
½ teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
¼ teaspoon hot pepper sauce, or to taste

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, stir together the barbeque sauce, whiskey, Worcestershire sauce, ginger, cayenne pepper, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion salt, oregano, red pepper flakes, sugar, ground black pepper, and hot pepper sauce. Cover, and keep refrigerated until ready to use.
