HURRICANE COCKTAIL

Our tropical, rum-based hurricane cocktail is easy to make and sure to get your party started. Garnish with orange and cocktail cherries for a kitsch touch

50ml dark rum
50ml white rum
1 passion fruit
1 orange , juiced
1 lemon , juiced
50ml sugar syrup
2 tsp grenadine
4 cocktail cherries
2 orange slices

Steps:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice then add the rums. Scoop the flesh and seeds from the passion fruit and add to the shaker along with the orange and lemon juices, sugar syrup and grenadine.
  • Shake well until the outside of the cocktail shaker feels icy cold. Fill two hurricane glasses with fresh ice then double strain the drink into the prepared glasses.
  • Garnish each one with an orange slice skewered onto a cocktail stick and a couple of cocktail cherries.

1 cup ice cubes
1 fluid ounce light rum
1 fluid ounce dark rum
1 fluid ounce coconut rum
1 fluid ounce vodka
1 fluid ounce gin
1 fluid ounce Chambord (raspberry liqueur)
1 fluid ounce triple sec liqueur
3 fluid ounces orange juice
2 slices orange slices for garnish
1 maraschino cherry for garnish

Steps:

  • Fill a hurricane glass with ice. Add light rum, dark rum, coconut rum, vodka, gin, raspberry liqueur, triple sec and orange juice. Shake gently, and garnish with orange slices and a cherry, if desired. Beverage will be about the color of a pink grapefruit.

You'll find a hurricane on the menu at almost every bar in New Orleans thanks to Pat O'Brien's, where the fruity drink was created in the 1940s. 3/4 ounce white rum
3/4 ounce dark rum
3/4 ounce 151-proof rum
1 1/2 ounces orange juice
1 1/2 ounces pineapple juice
1 1/2 ounces cranberry juice
1/2 ounce grenadine
Lemon wedge, lime wedge and maraschino cherry, for garnish

Steps:

  • Combine all the rum, the orange juice, pineapple juice and cranberry juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well.
  • Strain the drink into a pint glass filled with ice. Slowly pour the grenadine on top. Garnish with a wedge each of lemon and lime and a maraschino cherry.

1 1/2 ounces dark rum
1/4 cup passion fruit juice
1-ounce orange juice
1-ounce fresh lime juice
2 teaspoons simple syrup (equal amounts sugar and water heated until the sugar dissolves; cool)
1 teaspoon grenadine
Ice cubes
Cherries with stems, and orange slice to garnish

Steps:

  • In a cocktail shaker, mix the rum, all of the fruit juices, and the simple syrup. Add the grenadine, and stir to combine, then add ice and shake. Half-fill a hurricane glass with ice, then strain the drink into a glass and add more ice to fill the glass. Garnish with cherries and an orange slice.
