Provided by Betty Crocker Kitchens

Categories     Appetizer

Time 2h35m

Yield 24

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 cans (11 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original French Bread
2 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
1/2 cup chopped cooked bacon
1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup Progresso™ plain panko crispy bread crumbs
1 large red bell pepper (for head and feathers)
1 large yellow bell pepper (for feet, beak and feathers)
2 large candy eyeballs
3 small pretzel twists
3 large pretzel twists

Steps:

  • Make both cans of French bread as directed on cans. Cool completely on cooling rack. Reserve 1 teaspoon cream cheese; cover and refrigerate for later.
  • In large bowl, mix remaining cream cheese, the shredded cheese, bacon and green onions. Beat with electric mixer on medium speed 1 to 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally, until mixed well. Cover and refrigerate about 2 hours or until mixture is firm enough to shape into ball.
  • Meanwhile, in 8-inch nonstick skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add bread crumbs; cook 3 to 4 minutes, stirring frequently, until golden brown. Spread onto large piece of waxed paper; cool completely.
  • Shape cheese mixture into large ball. Roll in toasted bread crumbs; place on serving plate. Discard any remaining crumbs.
  • Using photo as guide, decorate turkey cheese ball. Cut head and three feathers from red bell pepper. Cut 2 feet, 2 feathers and small beak from yellow bell pepper. Attach candy eyeballs and beak to head using reserved cream cheese to secure, and carefully insert head into cheese ball. Carefully insert feet and 3 rows of feathers and pretzels into cheese ball to look like a turkey. Cut each French loaf into 12 slices. Serve cheese ball immediately with sliced bread and leftover bell pepper, or loosely cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

TURKEY CHEESE BALL THANKSGIVING APPETIZER

Turkey Cheese Ball Thanksgiving Appetizer image

Ready in minutes! This turkey cheese ball is cute and delicious!

Provided by Stacey Rodriguez

Categories     Holiday Fun

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 5

Pre-made cheese Ball
Edible candy Eyes
Pretzel Sticks
Candy Corn
Crackers for dipping

Steps:

  • Remove pre-made cheese ball from packaging and flip upside-down. Scoop out a small amount of cheese from the bottom of your cheese ball and set aside. This extra cheese will serve as the "glue" for assembling your turkey cheese ball.
  • Flip cheese ball over place in the center of a round serving plate.
  • Poke one pretzel stick into the front of the cheese ball to be your turkey's "neck."
  • Take about 8-10 pretzel sticks and poke them into the back of your turkey in a fan shape. These will be your turkey's feathers.
  • Use some of the cheese you set aside earlier to attach your candy corn onto the top of the pretzel at the front of your cheese ball. Then use more of the cheese to attach the edible candy eyes to this pretzel as well.
  • Surround your turkey cheese ball with crackers and enjoy!

THANKSGIVING TURKEY CHEESE BALL

Thanksgiving Turkey Cheese Ball image

Use this cheese ball recipe or a favorite cheese ball recipe that you may already have and decorate it to look like a turkey. What a cute way to help celebrate the day!

Provided by Faxo

Number Of Ingredients 9

8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
1 c. shredded cheddar, softened
1/2 c. chopped up mixed nuts
2 candy eyes
1 Slim Jim
pretzel sticks
1 round chocolate candy as in Whopper or Chocolate Pom poms for the head
1 candy corn
several teaspoons melted chocolate melts to adhere the eyes and beak

Steps:

  • Soften cream cheese and cheddar cheese. Cream the cream cheese and add in shredded cheddar by hand or with a food processor. Stir and cream until both cheeses are thoroughly mixed together. Place mixture into a piece of plastic wrap; form into a ball; place into the refrigerator for a few hours to firm it up. Remove from fridge and roll it in chopped nuts but keep the nice round shape. Place pretzels to make the tail of the turkey. Use a little chocolate melt to "glue" the round chocolate candy to about a 4 or 5 inch piece of Slim Jim. It could bit tricky to get this to stay in place, so you might need to place it in the freezer in order to harden it up faster. Glued on the eyes and "beak" candy corn; place in the freezer for a few minutes. After inserting the "neck" Slim Jim into the cheese ball, place the entire turkey on a platter/tray/plate and into the refrigerator for overnight.

  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, cheddar or blue cheese, half of the cranberries, half of the chopped pecans, chopped green onions, salt, garlic powder, and pepper until it's well-combined and very smooth.
  • Scoop out a small amount of the cheese mixture (about 2-4 tbsp, depending on what size you're going for) and roll it into a small ball, then place it on a sheet pan. Continue rolling into balls until all of the mixture has been used. Cover the sheet pan with saran wrap, then place the cheese balls into the refrigerator to firm up, about 2 hours or until you're ready to serve.
  • Combine the remaining pecans, cranberries, and the chopped chives in a small dish. Gently roll each ball in the mixture and place on a serving platter. Either serve them as-is (with small tongs) or add a small pretzel stick to each ball to allow for easy pickup.
