SWEET AND TANGY CHICKEN



Sweet and Tangy Chicken image

4 Ingredient Sweet and Tangy Chicken is a go-to chicken recipe using common ingredients and is one of the most popular recipes on Syrup and Biscuits.

Number Of Ingredients 4

8 chicken thighs (You can use a whole chicken or other parts. We love thighs the best. And we want them on the bone with the skin)
1 package dry french onion soup mix
1 8 oz bottle Russian dressing ((I prefer Wishbone Russian dressing))
1 small jar of apricot preserves ( or about a cupful)

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients, except chicken, in a bowl.
  • Place chicken pieces in a baking pan. Sprinkle with pepper. No extra salt is needed.
  • Pour sauce over chicken and make sure it's coated well.
  • Roast uncovered at 400 degrees for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes until chicken is done. Baste several times during cooking. This is the way the chicken will look when done.

The chicken is marinated for six hours, and then broiled. Serve with wild rice or noodles.

4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
1 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Place chicken in a single layer in a bowl or pan. Mix together Worcestershire sauce, oil, lemon juice, and garlic; pour over chicken. Cover. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours.
  • Take chicken out of marinade, and place on broiler pan or grill. Broil until done, approximately 7 minutes on each side.

This is a delicious tangy chicken recipe, my husband loves the taste of this sauce, I make it quite often at my house....never any leftovers here! You could easily double the sauce recipe if desired....I usually serve this with white rice or potatoes on the side deeeeeelicious! (note: plan ahead, this chicken needs to sit in the fridge for a couple of hours before baking.... I have even prepared it the night before and baked it the next evening for supper!)

1 chicken, cut into pieces
1 tablespoon flour
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons white vinegar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 small onion, chopped
1 teaspoon ground mustard powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Set oven to 350 degrees Grease a 13x9 baking pan Place chicken in the baking dish In a saucepan, whisk flour and water until smooth Stir in brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce Bring to a boil; cook and stir 2 mins or until thickened Stir in remaining ingredients Pour over chicken Cover and refrigerate for 2-4 hours Remove from refigerater 30 mins before baking Bake, uncovered for 35-45 mins, or until chicken is done.

1 (12 ounce) bottle Heinz Chili Sauce
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts

Steps:

  • In a small bowl combine all ingredients except chicken and blend well.
  • Coat a medium skillet with cooking spray or 1 tbs oil and bring to medium heat. Lighlty brown chicken on both sides, cover with sauce mixture. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer 25 or until fully cooked. Turn chicken once while cooking.

This is a tasty twist on everyday chicken. At 16 years of age, I love to cook, bake, anything that has to do with culinary arts, and I enjoy making up recipes. This recipe is tried tested and true. A perfect idea for your next meal!

1 (8 ounce) can pineapple tidbits with juice
1 cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon onion powder
2 tablespoons white sugar
¼ cup lemon juice
2 tablespoons barbeque sauce
½ teaspoon curry powder
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
salt and pepper to taste
½ cup finely chopped onion
½ cup finely chopped celery
2 ½ cups uncooked white rice
4 cups water

Steps:

  • In a glass or plastic dish with a lid, combine the pineapple with its juice, soy sauce, onion powder, sugar, lemon juice, barbeque sauce, and curry powder. Taste, and adjust seasonings if desired. Place the chicken into the mixture, cover, and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat. Place chicken breasts onto the grate, and grill until the meat is no longer pink inside. Brush occasionally with the pineapple sauce. Chicken should take about 7 to 10 minutes on each side.
  • Put the four cups water into a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onions, celery, and rice. Bring to a boil, and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer until rice is tender, about 20 minutes. In a separate pan, heat the marinade over medium heat until boiling. Simmer for about 5 or 10 minutes, then remove from heat, and set aside.
  • Serve the chicken on a bed of rice with the sauce covering it, or to the side.
