Steps:
- Season pork shoulder with salt.
- Place pork shoulder in slow cooker.
- Cook on low for 12-14 hours depending on size and slow cooker.
- Shred pork shoulder with two forks.
- Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
- Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Refrigerate for at least an hour or until ready to use.
- Pre-heat oven to 400F.
- Toss sweet potato slices with avocado oil, salt and pepper
- Place on baking sheet in one layer.
- Roast for 35-40 minutes flipping half way through.
- Note: this can also be done on a grill if you're BBQ-ing
- Smear BBQ sauce on sweet potato "buns"
- Top buns with pulled pork, broccoli coleslaw and jalapeno slices (optional).
SLOW COOKER SWEET AND SPICY PULLED PORK SANDWICHES

- Place the roast in the insert of your slow cooker (fat-side-up). In a medium bowl, whisk together the preserves and the chili sauce. Pour over the roast in the slow cooker. Put on the lid and set to cook on low for 10 to 12 hours. When the pork is done cooking, remove it from the pan and set it on a cutting board. Pour the sauce into a bowl and set it in the refrigerator. Shred the pork (remove any pieces of fat and discard) and put the pork into a bowl. At this point, you can cover the pork and refrigerate until you are ready to serve... or you can pull out the sauce, skim off any fat and add several generous spoonfuls of the sauce back onto the pork. Stir to coat, re-heat as you wish and you're ready to assemble. Preheat your broiler. Place the bottom buns on a large baking sheet. Top each bun with warmed pork and a slice of cheese. Broil 2 to 3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. To serve, top each with coleslaw and a good drizzle of sriracha sauce. Put tops on each sandwich and serve.

- Place the pork shoulder roast into a large plastic bag, pour 1 cup of root beer over the meat, and squeeze out all the air from the bag. Seal the bag closed, and refrigerate 6 hours to overnight.
- The next day, mix together the light brown sugar, kosher salt, black pepper, paprika, dry mustard, onion powder, garlic salt, celery salt, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg in a bowl.
- Remove the meat from the marinade, and shake off the excess. Rub the meat all over with the spice mixture, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 2 hours.
- Mix together the balsamic vinegar, 1 1/2 cups of root beer, whiskey, and brown sugar in a bowl, and stir until the sugar dissolves.
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, and sear the meat on all sides until the meat develops a brown crust, about 3 minutes per side. Place the seared meat into a slow cooker. Pour the balsamic vinegar-root beer mixture over the meat, set the slow cooker to High, and cook for 6 to 8 hours.
- Remove the roast from the slow cooker, and shred with 2 forks. Discard the bones and all but 1 cup of the liquid in the slow cooker. Return the shredded meat to the cooker, mix in the barbecue sauce, and let sit on Low until ready to serve. Serve piled on buns.

- In a large bowl combine all of the sauce ingredients.
- Taste and adjust seasonings if needed. (Don't be alarmed at the bold flavor, it won't taste as strong once it's combined with the chicken)
- Heat the sauce on medium and let it barely simmer for about 5-10 minutes (optional)
- Mix sauce into shredded chicken a little at a time until your desired consistency is reached (I never use all the sauce since I just like my chicken to be lightly coated.
- Top the prepared potato buns with the BBQ chicken and then top with cole slaw (optional but recommended)
- Serve hot.

- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat; fry pork in batches until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes. Transfer browned pork to a slow cooker.

- Place onions in a 4- or 5-qt. slow cooker. Mix brown sugar, paprika, salt and pepper; rub over roast. - In a skillet over medium heat, add onion, garlic, BBQ sauce and chicken broth. Cook until the onions are soft.
- Add leftover pulled pork to the pan and toss with the sauce. Cook until it's heated through.
- Toasted the buns. Then spoon shredded pork onto one half of the toasted bun.
- Drizzle with BBQ sauce, top with coleslaw and cover with the bun tops. Serve and enjoy!

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Rinse and dry the pork shoulder.
- Mix together the brown sugar, garlic, cumin, salt, and cayenne. Rub the mixture generously and evenly over the pork shoulder.
- In a large roasting pan or Dutch oven, add the chopped onions, broth, and cola. Place the seasoned pork in the Dutch oven and roast for 4 to 6 hours, checking the pork every hour for tenderness and liquid level.
- When the pork is tender enough that it is falling apart, shred it with a fork. Reserve the juices and pour them over the shredded pork before serving.
