Fresh garden vegetables add color and crunch to this attractive salad. Its pleasant vinaigrette-type dressing is sparked with ground mustard and garlic. 1 package (16 ounces) tricolor spiral pasta
1 medium red onion, chopped
1 medium tomato, chopped
1 medium cucumber, peeled, seeded and chopped
1 medium green pepper, chopped
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
DRESSING:
1-1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup white vinegar
1 tablespoon ground mustard
1 teaspoon salt, optional
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Cook pasta according to package directions; drain and rinse with cold water. Place in a large serving bowl. Stir in the onion, tomato, cucumber, green pepper and parsley; set aside. , In a small saucepan, combine the dressing ingredients. Cook over medium-low heat for 10 minutes or until sugar is dissolved. Pour over salad and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours. Serve with a slotted spoon.

1 cup uncooked rosamarina (orzo) pasta (6 ounces)
1 package (16 ounces) frozen stir-fry vegetables
1 can (14 ounces) baby corn nuggets, drained
1 1/2 cups cubed fully cooked ham
3/4 cup sweet-and-sour sauce

Steps:

  • Cook pasta as directed on package, but do not drain.
  • Place frozen vegetables in colander. To drain pasta, pour over frozen vegetables in colander. Let stand until vegetables are thawed.
  • Place vegetables and pasta in large bowl. Add corn, ham and sweet-and-sour sauce; toss.

Serve with your favorite chicken, pork, or beef as a refreshing side dish. You can substitute red, yellow, or orange peppers for the green to add extra color to this dish.

1 (16 ounce) package small seashell pasta
2 cucumbers - peeled, quartered, and cut into 1/2-inch slices
1 sweet onion, halved and thinly sliced
2 green bell peppers, seeded and chopped into 3/4-inch pieces
1 (4 ounce) jar chopped pimento peppers
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
¾ cup white sugar
¾ cup cider vinegar
¾ cup vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil; cook seashell pasta at a boil until tender yet firm to the bite, 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water.
  • Mix pasta, cucumbers, onion, green bell pepper, and pimento peppers in a large bowl.
  • Whisk tomato soup, sugar, vinegar, and oil together in a bowl until smooth; pour over pasta mixture. Stir to coat. Refrigerate 12 to 24 hours before serving, stirring occasionally.

2 grated raw carrots
1 diced onion
250 g cooked diced bacon
125 ml cooked peas
250 ml tomato sauce
375 ml sugar
125 ml white vinegar
125 ml sunflower oil
5 ml curry powder (medium strength)

Steps:

  • cook the pasta as per packet directions.
  • fry the bacon and add the diced onion towards the end.

1 onion, chopped
1 leek, chopped
1 small carrot, grated
1 (5 ounce) can tuna
1 (16 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons light soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 ½ teaspoons Chinese five-spice powder
2 tablespoons creme fraiche
1 (16 ounce) package penne pasta

Steps:

  • Cook penne pasta in boiling salted water until al dente.
  • Place the onion, leek, and carrot in a saucepan with the olive oil and saute for a few minutes until the onions become translucent.
  • Place the tomatoes, honey, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and Chinese five spice into the saucepan and cook on medium heat for 5 minutes.
  • Add the drained tuna fish and cook for a further 5 to 10 minutes.
  • When you are ready to serve, season with salt, stir in a few spoonfuls of creme fraiche and pour the sauce over the cooked penne.
