SWEET AND SMOKY PORK RUB



Sweet and Smoky Pork Rub image

This pork rub is a sweet and smoky flavored rub for chops, tenderloin, roast, and smoked ham. Make this recipe using just six spices!

1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 tbsp kosher salt
2 tsp chili seasoning
2 tsp garlic powder ((or garlic flakes))
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp paprika ((See Note 1))
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Mix together in a small bowl and keep in an airtight container.
  • This is my go to for a dry rub on pork chops. It's balanced with sweet and spicy and doesn't over power the meat. Perfect to use on pork chops, tenderloin, cutlets or if smoking and grilling pork shoulder.
  • For ribs, which are a different cut of pork, I have several other dry rubs.

1 tablespoon ancho chili powder
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
1 tablespoon ground mustard
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar

Steps:

  • Whisk all of the ingredients together in a small mixing bowl.
  • Transfer to a clean container with a tight-fitting lid for storage. Store in a cool, dry place for up to six months.
  • Use this pork rub recipe in your favorite pork recipes. I recommend using about 2 tablespoons of pork rub per pound of pork. We love this grilled pork tenderloin and these crockpot ribs that are finished on the grill!

This Sweet & Smoky Dry Rub for Ribs is going to be a new BBQ, grilling, wood smoker or even oven baked ribs favourite!

1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons smoked paprika
2 tablespoons flaked sea salt
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes ( optional)
two (3 pounds) slabs your favourite ribs

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees or prepare your BBQ/Smoker for your own preference.
  • Whisk together the dry rub ingredients.
  • Use 1/3 of the mixture on each slab of ribs that you have. Each slab should be approximately 3 lbs ( see the ones in our photos for size reference.) Place any remaining rub in a sealed container for later.;
  • Place the ribs on a lightly oiled baking sheet.

BROWN SUGAR BBQ RUB



Brown Sugar BBQ Rub image

This is my favorite rub to use when I smoke meats. I threw it together to use on smoked pork butt, but it also works really well on chicken and ribs. Apply liberally to meat and let sit overnight for best flavor. The brown sugar helps make a nice bark. Makes enough to cover two 8-pound pork butts or 6 racks of ribs.

¼ cup dark brown sugar
¼ cup smoked paprika
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
1 ½ teaspoons onion powder
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Combine brown sugar, paprika, salt, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, dry mustard, black pepper, cayenne, and cinnamon in a small airtight container. Seal and store in a cool, dark place until ready to use.
