Steps:
- Combine sugar, syrup, butter and cream in a heavy saucepan.
- Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture forms a firm ball, about 250 degrees on a candy thermometer.
- Add nuts and pour into small fluted waxed paper candy cups or onto well-buttered cookie sheet. If poured on a cookie sheet, allow to set before cutting into small squares with oiled scissors.
- Wrap in waxed paper.

Steps:
- Mix molasses, cream, sugar, and cocoa powder together in a pot; bring to a boil. Heat to 251 degrees F (122degrees C), or until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms a firm but pliable ball, 30 to 40 minutes. The finished candy will be same firmness of the ball in water. Remove pot from heat and stir in almonds and vanilla extract.
- Spoon candy into small paper candy cups. Cool to room temperature and store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Steps:
- Knead almond paste until soft; work in powdered sugar.
- Add vanilla and salt.
- Add egg whites, a little at a time, blending well after each addition. Use just enough egg whites to make a soft dough that will hold its shape when dropped from a teaspoon.
- Line cookie sheets with unglazed brown paper.
- Drop paste onto sheets by teaspoonfuls, about 2 inches apart. Or force through a cookie press into rounds.
- Sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake about 20 minutes at 300 degrees.
- Place macaroons on damp towel to loosen the brown paper and remove paper. Cool on racks.

- Boil on medium heat for 30 min (stir once in a while). There should be a lot of bubbles. Please note that the time could change depending on the size of the pot and the heat of your stove.
- Then start measuring the temperature of the mixture. It is ready when temperature is around 125-130°C (257-266°F). For me it took around 45 min.
- While waiting for the mixture to be ready you can prepare a tray that you pack tiny paper cups tightly on. Also chop the almonds so it is ready and find a suitable metal container to pour from.
