This is a variation of Wendy's Chili published by Pam Walk, www.food.com recipe #17858 Wendy's Chili. Adapted to 6 servings.

1 lb ground beef
1 (29 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (29 ounce) can kidney beans (with liquid)
1 cup red onion, diced (1 medium Red onion)
1/2 cup jalapeno, diced
4 large garlic cloves, crushed
1/4 cup celery, diced (1 stalk)
3 medium tomatoes, chopped
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 -3 teaspoons cumin powder
3 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon chipotle paste
1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
2 teaspoons salt
2 cups water or 2 cups chicken stock

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef.
  • Add tomato sauce, kidney beans, onion, jalapenos, garlic cloves, celery, tomatoes, brown sguar, cumin, chili powder, chipotle paste, pepper, salt, and water or chicken stock.
  • Simmer for 2 or 3 hours over low heat.
  • Serve in bowls with nachos around and top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Goes well with Swedish Pripps beer or, if needed, Bud will do.
  • Great for those Sundays (when you wished you'd stayed at home on Saturday) watching tons of movies.

This is a secret family recipe passed down many years. This is not a traditional chili it is sweet and very unique. You can add more or less sugar to your taste. I hope my mom doesn't see this recipe.:)

2 lbs hamburger or 2 lbs ground venison
1 (48 ounce) can kidney beans
1 (16 ounce) can great northern beans
1 can whole tomato
4 cups sugar, minimum

Steps:

  • Brown meat.
  • Combine all ingredients in crock pot or dutch oven.
  • Cook 45 mins in dutch oven on stove top med heat.
  • Cook 2 hrs in crock pot.
  • For best results refrigerate 24 hrs, skim fat then reheat.
  • Traditionaly this is served in a bowl lined with buttered bread.

1 medium green pepper, chopped
2 medium onions, chopped
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 pounds ground beef
2 cans (28 ounces each) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 cup water
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 to 2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 cans (16 ounces each) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
Tortilla chips, optional

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven or large soup kettle, saute green pepper, onions and celery in oil until tender, about 5 minutes. Add ground beef and cook until browned; drain. Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, Worcestershire sauce and seasonings. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 1-1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add kidney beans. Simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes longer. If desired, serve with tortilla chips.

1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans
1 ½ cups water
1 pinch chili powder
1 pinch garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the beef and onion and saute until meat is browned and onion is tender. Add the stewed tomatoes with juice, tomato sauce, beans and water.
  • Season with the chili powder, garlic powder, salt and ground black pepper to taste. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover and let simmer for 15 minutes.
