Steps:
- Heat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6 and line a baking sheet with baking parchment. Put the butter in a bowl and beat it with electric beaters until soft and creamy. Beat in the sugar, then the egg and vanilla, and finally the flour to make a dough. If the dough feels a bit sticky, add a little bit more flour and knead it in.
- Pull pieces off the dough and roll them out to about the thickness of two £1 coins on a floured surface. The easiest way to do this with small children is to roll the mixture out on a baking mat. Cut out shapes using a 9cm biscuit cutter, or a use the rim of a small glass and peel away the leftover dough around the edges. Press some clean toys gently into the biscuits, making sure you make enough of a mark without going all the way through. Re-roll off-cuts and repeat.
- Transfer the whole mat or the individual biscuits to the baking sheet and bake for 8-10 mins or until the edges are just brown. Leave to cool for 5 mins, then serve. Will keep for three days in a biscuit tin.

These are great for Biscuits and Gravy or with Chicken a la King or just to serve on the side. They are lighter in calories and fat than most biscuits due to the yogurt. ** Good for...

Steps:
- Place a rack in the center of your oven and preheat to 450 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Dice the butter into small pieces and place it in the freezer while you prepare the other ingredients.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt. (If adding any herbs, garlic powder, or black pepper, do it here.)
- Scatter the cold butter pieces over the top. With a pastry blender (or my favorite, your fingers), cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Some pieces may be the size of small pebbles and others as large as peas.
- In a separate bowl or large measuring cup, whisk together the milk, Greek yogurt, and honey until smoothly combined. Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients a little at a time, stirring lightly between additions. (If adding cheese, add it slowly as you add the milk.) Stop stirring as soon as the dough holds together. It will be very moist and seem wet.
- Drop the batter by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet. I like to use a muffin scoop for this-you'll have 9 large or 12(ish) more moderately sized biscuits total. Bake for 10 to 13 minutes, until the tops are golden and spring back lightly when touched. Enjoy warm.

- Quick and Easy Peanut Butter Treats. If your dog loves peanut butter, you can’t go wrong with this simple recipe. All you need is flour, peanut butter, eggs and water.
- Super Simple Two-Ingredient Treats. This is a great starter recipe, and your dog will think you’re a master baker. All you need is organic whole wheat flour and your choice (or your dog’s) of pureed baby food.
- Frozen Peanut Butter Yogurt Treats. You come home after a long day, and all you want to do is veg in front of the TV with your friendly canine couch potato.
- Banana-Almond Puppy Treats. These are soft and chewy, perfect for little puppy teeth. You’ll need eggs, almond butter, bananas and cinnamon. Mash the banana, add the other ingredients, mix together using a fork, and spoon out small dollops onto a baking sheet.
- Sweet Potato Fries. You won’t be able to resist sharing these with your pooch. They’re made with sweet potato, coconut oil, turmeric and cinnamon (both spices are safe and healthy for dogs).
- Chicken Wild Rice Treats. Wild rice is recommended, but any high-grade rice (just don’t ever use “feed rice”) will do. Add diced or shredded chicken, a little rice flour (you can get Bob’s Red Mill at many grocery stores), a little diced parsley and an egg.
- Homemade (Bacon) Dog Treats. Easy to make and your dog will go crazy for these. Combine whole wheat flour, wheat germ, melted bacon fat (you get to eat the bacon!)
- Three-Ingredient Chicken Dog Biscuits. Whole wheat flour, oil, chicken stock — that’s it! Mix together into dough, roll out, cut into any shape and bake.
- Yummy Gummy Treats. Bone broth is all the rage – and now your pup can also reap the health benefits with This Dog’s Life bone broth treats. Choose between beets, parsley or turmeric (or make them all!)
- Peanut Butter Banana Treats. If you use bone-shaped cookie cutters, these look much harder than they really are. All you need is uncooked oatmeal (the real stuff, not instant), a banana and peanut butter.

- For best results, chill your butter in the freezer for 10-20 minutes before beginning this recipe. It's ideal that the butter is very cold for light, flaky, buttery biscuits.
- Remove your butter from the refrigerator and either cut it into your flour mixture using a pastry cutter or (preferred) use a box grater to shred the butter into small pieces and then add to the flour mixture and stir.
