Time 2h10m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 quarts water
¼ cup wildflower honey
1 large lemon
2 bunches fresh mint leaves

Steps:

  • Pour the water into a large glass container with a lid. Stir in honey until dissolved.
  • Zest the lemon, being careful not to include any white pith, and juice the lemon. Combine the zest and juice with the honey water mixture.
  • Hold a bunch of mint in one hand; use your other hand to twist and squeeze the leaves, slightly bruising them to release their fragrance and oils. Immerse the bunches in the water mixture. Cover the container and place in direct sunlight for two hours. Remove the mint leaves, shake, and serve over ice in tall glasses, garnished with a mint sprig.

  • Add the tea bags. Peel and core the peach, remove any bruised areas, and cut into 6 slices. Add to the water along with the mint.
  • Close up the jar and place it where it will catch direct sunlight for at least 6 hours. In the spring, summer and fall, I place it on a table on our deck. In winter sometimes I place it outside, and sometimes in a very sunny window. Wait 24 hours and open the jar.

  • Add herbs to your sun tea recipe. I love a spring of fresh mint in my tea, but brewing your tea with the mint from the start is absolutely delicious. I’m also intrigued by this mint sun tea recipe at The Well Essentials.
  • Add fresh fruit to your sun tea recipe. We’re all about fresh fruit right now, and it’s so easy to slice up whatever you have on hand and add it to your sun tea pitcher before you pour in the water and tea bags.
  • Add fruit syrups or compotes to your sun tea recipe. One easy trick: Brew a big jar of plain sun tea to keep on hand in the fridge, then change things up with variations on individual servings.
  • Add spice to your sun tea recipe. I tend to default to plain old iced tea bags when I make sun tea, but I’m pushing myself to get more creative with the tea itself and not just the add-ins.

HOW TO MAKE SUN TEA AT HOME - BEST SUN TEA RECIPE
2021-03-25 Once the sun tea is the color and flavor you’re going for, sweeten the tea if you so desire. Instead of stirring in sugar and watching the granules settle at the bottom of the jug, I like to sweeten sun tea with honey or agave. It stirs in nice and smooth. The amount you use is entirely up to you. Add ¼ cup at a time and taste after stirring before adding more. Finally, if you like lemon or ...

SUN TEA WITH MINT - THE PRUDENT GARDEN
2017-06-09 Sun Tea. What is sun tea? It’s brewing tea by using the sun’s energy. What a perfect way to enjoy the sun without being in it! It’s simple enough; fill a jar with water, put tea bags in it and set it in the sun. Brewing time will depend on how much sunlight is hitting the jar. I found 2-3 hours is enough, but judge it by the color of the tea.

HERBAL SUN TEA RECIPE (HIBISCUS PEPPERMINT) - MODERN ...
2018-08-01 The mint flavor in this herbal sun tea is light, but refreshing. It’s been helping my husband’s headaches lately, and it’s said to help with anxiety and stress.
