Say hello to your new summer sip: clerico -- South America's version of sangria. The refreshing cocktail is made from a mix of white wine and fruits. Present this party-pleaser in a glass pitcher, or pour it into lidded jars to bring on a picnic.

2 bottles dry white wine, like Sauvignon Blanc
1/4 cup brandy
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups sliced peaches
1 cup sliced strawberries
1 cup halved seedless grapes
Thinly sliced banana
Ice

Steps:

To make, combine wine with brandy, lemon juice, and sugar in a 3-quart pitcher. Stir until sugar is dissolved, then add peaches, strawberries, and grapes. Let chill at least 2 hours and up to overnight. Mix in banana just before serving. Pour into glasses filled with ice, and use a spoon to scoop the wine-soaked fruit into each one.

2/3 cup lightly packed mint leaves
6 tablespoons honey
1 cup white rum, cold
1 pound raspberries
2 limes, cut into wheels
2 medium peaches, sliced
1/2 cantaloupe, diced or balled
2 bottles pinot grigio or chardonnay, chilled

Steps:

Muddle the mint, honey and rum together in a large pitcher until well combined. Add the raspberries, lime wheels, peaches, cantaloupe and wine; stir well. Pour into glasses over ice, and enjoy, especially if it's a hot day!

Ingredients

2 bottles inexpensive white wine - (750 ml ea) (nothing too sweet)
2 bananas peeled, and sliced in 2" slices
1 orange rind reserved, cut in segments
6 peaches peeled, and sliced in 6 wedges each
1 red apple center removed, chopped medium dice
6 plums sliced 6 wedges each
2 lemons reserve rind, juiced
1 cup red grapes
2 cups ice
Sugar to taste
8 ounces seltzer or lemon-lime soda (optional)

Steps:

Place all fruit in a glass pitcher. Add 2 cups ice, lemon juice, orange and lemon rind, all the white wine and allow to sit in the refrigerator until just before serving. At the last minute, add sugar, to taste and soda, if desired. This recipe yields 5 to 6 servings.
