From my Oster bread machine cookbook. The first recipe I tried from it. It was delicious! 1.5 lb loaf

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 3/8 cups water
1 1/2 tablespoons oil
2 tablespoons molasses
1 teaspoon salt (book calls for 1 1/2 tsp but we thought it was a bit salty)
2 cups bread flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Steps:

  • Measure and add liquid ingredients to bread pan.
  • Measure and add dry ingredients (except yeast) to bread pan.
  • Use finger to form well in the flour and put the yeast in it. Making sure yeast doesn't come in contact with any liquid.
  • Put pan in maker and close lid. Choose "whole wheat" setting and crust color. Press start.

50/50 WHOLE WHEAT BREAD (ABM)



50/50 Whole Wheat Bread (Abm) image

This loaf bakes up tall and fluffy!! We use a wheat blend flour from Gold Medal and Bread flour for this recipe. The recipe below is for a 2 lb. loaf.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 -1 1/8 cup water
2 eggs
6 tablespoons shortening
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 cups gold medal better for bread wheat blend whole wheat flour (can use whole wheat)
2 cups gold medal better for bread flour
2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in bread pan, using the least amount of liquid listed in the recipe.
  • Select Whole Wheat cycle and Medium Crust setting.
  • Press start.
  • Observe the dough as it kneads. After 5 to 10 minutes, if it appears dry and stiff or if you machine sounds as if it's straining to knead it, add more liquid 1 tablespoon at a time until dough forms a smooth, soft, pliable ball that is slightly tacky to the touch.
  • After baking cycle ends, remove bread from pan, place on cake rack and allow to cool 1 hour before slicing.
  • Note: Number of servings depending on thickness of slice.

White Whole Wheat Bread for the Abm image

The initial recipe is in my Zojirushi cookbook.I don't usually bake my bread in the machine. It is summer and I still want to make my own bread without heating up the house.So I tried this and very pleased with the result. White whole wheat flour is new around here. Next time I will try it with regular whole wheat.

1 1/4 cups water
3 1/4 cups white whole wheat bread flour
2 teaspoons vital gluten
2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons dry milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons butter, softened
2 teaspoons bread machine yeast

Steps:

  • Place ingredients following your Bread machine's instructions.
  • When it is kneading;check to see if you need more flour or water.
  • Set to Whole Wheat setting.
  • Enjoy!

1 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
3 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
4 ml salt
2 tablespoons gluten
3 tablespoons margarine
1/4 cup honey
2 teaspoons dry active yeast

Steps:

  • Microwave buttermilk for 30secs to a minute so it's lukewarm.
  • Add all ingredients to breadmachine in the order listed.
  • Select 1.5 lbs loaf
  • NOTE: Due to difference in moisture content of flour you may want to watch bread mixture to ensure the right consistency. If the mixture is too dry add one tablespoon of buttermilk and a time & if it's too wet add a tablespoon of flour at a time. Make sure the buttermilk or flour is completely incorporated before adjusting again.

Very light and good tasting wheat bread that kids love. Another standard on our dinner table. Sometimes I'll make dinner rolls with this recipe. Hope you like it with your meals! Cook time is estimated if you bake in your oven and not in your bread machine. also makes 15 rolls

11 1/2 ounces lukewarm water
1 egg, beaten
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons dry milk
2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/2 cup whole wheat flour (I use Hodgson's Mill)
3 1/2 cups white bread flour
2 teaspoons yeast

Steps:

  • Sift flours, salt, sugar and dry milk.
  • Add to bread machine with liquids first then flour mixture- yeast should be last.
  • Set on light/med setting.
  • Often I will set just on dough setting and knead and raise last time to bake in my own oven at 375 degree oven for about 25-30 minutes.

  • For a 2 lb loaf, please use the 2 lb ingredient list and set the bread machine settings to 2 pound loaf, light color and “basic” bread options. For a 1.5 lb loaf, please use the 1.5 lb ingredient list and set the bread machine settings to 1.5 pound loaf, light color and “basic” bread options. FYI – Make sure not to confuse the 1.5 lb & 2 lb ingredient amounts and machine settings!
  • Unplug your bread machine. Remove the bread pan from the bread machine (so when you add the ingredients to the bread pan, they can not accidentally spill into the machine).
  • Pour the milk into the bread pan and then add the other ingredients. Place the bread machine yeast in last and the yeast should not touch the liquid or salt (until the bread machine is turned on and the ingredients start to be mixed together). Place bread pan (with ingredients) back into bread machine.
  • Plug in bread machine. Enter the correct settings (for either 1.5 lb or 2 lb loaf version) and press the “start” button.
