Steps:
- Add a good-sized handful of ice to a 24-ounce "big girl" beer glass. Add 8 ounces of the lemonade to the glass. Slowly, carefully, add the bottle of beer to the glass (go too fast and it's a mess). Add the vodka, then top it off with the last ounce of lemonade. Stir once, with a mighty long spoon. Squeeze the lemon slice over the top and drop it in.

- Passionfruit-Mango Wildfire Wheat. Homebrew with fruit can get a bad rap, but there is something about a refreshing fruit beer after a long bike ride that just hits the spot.
- Regal Pale Ale. It’s never too hot for hops! Maybe your favorite imperial hop-bomb isn’t the best beach sipper (don’t let me stop you!) , but hops are a great thirst quencher that balance out malt sweetness that might otherwise be too much under the summer sun.
- Bon-Bon Kolsch. Lagers tend to be the go-to summer beer here in the United States, largely because of the prominence of commercial macro lagers. We know it can be difficult for homebrewers to lager in the warmer months, so try out this hybrid Bon-Bon Kolsch which makes for a lager-like beer while fermenting at ale temperatures.
- White Lightning Wit. Utilizing wide arrays of ingredients and Belgian yeasts, the witbier style can add a little spice to your usual lawnmower-beer lineup.
- Roggen Roggenbier. A German rye beer may not be the first thing that comes to mind when talking about summer sippers, but this warm copper-red ale will surely keep you cool.
11 MOST REFRESHING SUMMER SHANDY RECIPES
From thespruceeats.com

- Basic Summer Shandy. The shandy began sometime around the 1850s as the "shandy gaff," a beer and ginger ale drink that quickly became a British favorite.
- Grapefruit Shandy. Fresh grapefruit juice is transformed into a tart and sweet grapefruit-ade that is just as easy to make as lemonade. It forms the base for this fantastic grapefruit shandy recipe and gives it a taste similar to the radler.
- Lilac Shandy. A unique way to kick off shandy season is with the lilac shandy. It can only be made in spring when lilacs are in bloom. The tiny, fragrant flowers are harvested to create a fascinating syrup to flavor homemade lilac lemonade.
- Basil-Rosemary Orange Shandy. When you're ready to add an extra dimension to your shandy experience, turn to the basil-rosemary orange shandy recipe. The orangeade base is sweetened with a homemade syrup that offers the fresh taste of basil, rosemary, and orange zest.
- Spicy Pineapple Shandy. Tropical fruit meets spicy pepper in this shandy and it's a ton of fun! The spicy pineapple shandy brings tequila into the mix, features a jalapeño simple syrup, and ramps up the juice component with a blend of lemon and pineapple.
- Cranberry Ginger Shandy. Shandies are typically a summertime drink, but this cranberry ginger shandy can be served any time of year, even during the holidays.
- Watermelon Beer. Watermelon is the ultimate summer fruit, which would naturally make watermelon beer the ultimate summer cocktail! Another great use for a citrus-kissed wheat beer (always a favorite for shandies), this recipe uses fresh watermelon juice.
- Rock Shandy. Shandies are typically very light on the alcohol, but if you really want to take it easy, the rock shandy is a great option. A favorite in South Africa, this shandy skips the beer entirely, opting instead to create a sparkling lemonade flavored with Angostura Bitters.
- Edna's Lunchbox. Got orange juice and amaretto? Then you have the makings for a fun and simple Edna's lunchbox. This cocktail is as easy to mix up as any other shandy and that hint of flavor from the almond liqueur is fantastic.
- Red Beer. This is not the typical shandy, but it does follow the beer-fruit juice formula. Plus, when you need an extra boost of vitamins and want to drink a beer, the red beer recipe is a perfect fit.

- The Honey Basil Julep. Bison Brewing makes some truly delicious organic beer. This stunner uses the brand's Organic Honey Basil blend for a riff on the classic summer julep of mint, sugar and crushed ice.
- Peach Lambic and Rye Sangria. This genius pairing takes an already peachy Belgian Lambic beer and enhanced it with fresh peaches and smoky rye whiskey.
- Strawberry Beer-mosas. Start with a white IPA or citrusy beer like Blue Moon for this sweet cocktail with orange juice and fresh strawberries. Perfect for a light summer brunch cocktail.
- Raspberry Beer Cocktail. Add pink lemonade (usually made with raspberries), fresh berries and lime juice to a very light beer.
- Southern Shandy. Mixing beer and lemonade together is an age-old favorite but add peach brandy for a very Southern twist. One sip and you'll be transported to a grand home in Georgia with a wrap-around porch.
- The Mad Botanist. Another gorgeous beet cocktail from Bison Brewing uses its botanical brew, "Saison de Wench," with a rose simple syrup, lemon juice, and herbal gin.
- The Porcupine. Use a sturdy pale ale like Sierra Nevada for this pineapple and rosemary cocktail. Add pretty spears of pineapple to each drink for extra appeal.
- The Michelada. This classic Mexican beer cocktail is spicy and refreshing. You really can't go wrong with an ice cold Modelo, lime and hot sauce.
- Watermelon Lemonade Beer Cocktail. Take advantage of watermelon season by adding the juice of one small watermelon to a pitcher with some lemonade and four Coronas.
- Aperol Mist. The Italian purists might take issue with adding precious Aperol to anything other than sparkling water or wine. However, after a sip of the Aperol Mist, a blend of Aperol and Belgian wheat beer all will be forgiven.
