Homemade Coffee Liqueur Recipe (AKA: Kahlúa) image

You'll be blown away by just how easy it is to make kahlúa at home! Follow this tutorial and you'll have homemade coffee liqueur in less than half an hour.

12 cups strong, dark brewed coffee
2 pounds light brown sugar
1/3 cup vanilla extract
750ml Everclear 190/189 Proof grain alcohol (preferable) or Everclear 151, Everclear 120, see post for more information

Steps:

  • Pour the coffee into a large soup pot, add in the brown sugar, and heat over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until the sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature.
  • Add in the vanilla and the grain alcohol. Pour into glass bottles, label, and store in a cool, dark place.

This recipe I love to make around Thanksgiving to drink or give as presents at Christmastime. The longer you wait the better it is, try and wait 4 weeks. I got this recipe from one of my own concoctions from trying several different recipes.

4 cups water
1 cup instant coffee crystals (such as Folgers® Classic Roast)
2 cups light brown sugar
2 cups lightly packed dark brown sugar
1 (750 milliliter) bottle 190 proof grain alcohol (such as Everclear®)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise and halved

Steps:

  • Combine water and instant coffee in a pot; bring to a boil. Stir light brown sugar and dark brown sugar into coffee, reduce heat, and simmer, stirring every 15 minutes, for 3 hours. Remove from heat and cool completely.
  • Pour coffee mixture into a clean, large glass jar. Add grain alcohol, vanilla extract, and vanilla bean; cover with a tight-fitting lid. Let sit in a dark place, shaking occasionally, for 1 month. Divide into bottles, leaving a piece of vanilla bean in each.

This doesn't get syrupy, but it tastes just like the real thing, with hardly any calories. (Unless you add cream to it!)

2 cups vodka (use a good one, or suffer the headache!)
2 cups water
1 1/4 cups Splenda granular
1 1/2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 tablespoons instant coffee

Steps:

  • Combine the water, splenda, vanilla and coffee in a saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the splenda and coffee are dissolved.
  • Remove from the heat and add the vodka.
  • Cover and let cool.
  • Store in an empty bottle with a screw top/resealable lid.
  • Store in a cool dark place - best if stored about 30 days before drinking.

Steps:

  • Combine first 4 ingredients in saucepan.
  • Cook until all dissolved.
  • Let boil a couple of minutes, leave a cover on pan/remove from heat and let sit at room temperature.
  • Add sweetener.
  • I store in refer.

  • In a clean glass bottle (minimum 750 ml size) with screw on cap, add the cacao nibs, vodka and vanilla bean. Let it be for 45 days to 2 months, shaking the bottle vigorously every other day.
  • Filter the vodka chocolate infusion out through coffee paper filters into a 1 liter clean glass bottle. You might have to change the paper filter a few times, as the fat from the cacao nibs will clog them.
  • Prepare the keto simple syrup: add the water and sweetener to a pan, and bring it to a boil while whisking. When the sweetener is fully dissolved, turn off the heat. Evenly sprinkle the xanthan gum on top of the mixture, and vigorously whisk it to avoid clumping.
  • After the syrup cools down, pour it into the bottle. Shake the bottle to mix, and try the liqueur for sweetness. You can add stevia or monk fruit drops to make it sweeter, if necessary.
