Toot your horn for a favorite snack baked crispy with a cinnamon-apple twist.

2 cups Corn Chex™ cereal
2 cups Rice Chex™ cereal
2 cups Apple Cinnamon Cheerios™ cereal
3 cups Bugles® original corn snacks
1 1/2 cups dry-roasted peanuts
2 egg whites
2 tablespoons orange juice or water
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 300°F. Spray with cooking spray or grease 15x10x1-inch pan.
  • In very large bowl, mix cereals, corn snacks and peanuts. In small bowl, beat egg whites, orange juice, sugar and cinnamon with wire whisk or hand beater until foamy. Pour over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated. Spread in pan.
  • Bake 45 to 50 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes, until light brown and crisp. Cool completely, about 1 hour. Store in airtight container.

2 egg whites
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoons water
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
18 ounces pecans

Steps:

  • Beat egg whites, vanilla, and water together in bowl, until frothy not stiff.
  • In gallon size zip-lock plastic bag shake together sugar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg, until well mixed.
  • Add the egg mixture and pecans at the same time to sugar mix.
  • Zip bag and shake well to cover all pecans.
  • Line a large cookie sheet with tin foil and spray the foil with cooking spray.
  • Spread out pecans on foil and bake at a 250 degree oven for 50 min, stirring every 15 minutes.
  • Let cool and store in airtight container.
  • Enjoy!

3 cups original-flavor horn-shaped corn snacks
1 1/2 cups dry-roasted peanuts
2 egg whites
2 tablespoons orange juice or water
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 300°F. Grease 15x10x1-inch pan with shortening or cooking spray.

1 tablespoon unsalted butter plus additional for greasing parchment
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
Rounded 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
2 cups mixed nuts
Special Equipment

Steps:

  • Put oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 350°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly butter parchment.
  • Stir together butter, sugar, corn syrup, spices, and salt in a 1 1/2- to 2-quart heavy saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Add nuts and cook, stirring constantly, 3 minutes. Spread nuts in 1 layer on lined baking sheet, separating any clumps. Bake, stirring nuts once with a heatproof rubber (silicone) spatula halfway through baking (keep nuts in 1 layer), until golden and bubbling, 12 to 15 minutes. Cool on baking sheet on a rack 45 minutes, then break into small clusters with your hands.

Don't think of pumpkin seeds just as a Halloween treat--they taste delicious and have many health benefits as well. Adjust the cayenne to suit your own taste and heat tolerance (I used the full amount and next time will probably add more). Adapted from Bon Appetit.

2 cups pepitas (green hulled pumpkin seeds)
1/3 cup sugar
1 large egg white, beaten until frothy
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4-1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and spray baking sheet with nonstick spray (or line with parchment paper or nonstick foil).
  • Mix all ingredients and spread in single layer on baking sheet.
  • Bake until pepitas are golden and dry, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes (I baked for around 20 minutes, stirring about every 5).
  • Remove from oven and separate pepitas with fork while still warm; cool completely.

2 cups shelled pepitas
1/3 cup sugar
1 large egg white, beaten until frothy
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray baking sheet with nonstick spray. Mix pepitas and next 6 ingredients in medium bowl. Stir in 1/4 teaspoon to 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, depending on spiciness desired. Spread pepitas in single layer on baking sheet.
  • Bake until pepitas are golden and dry, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes. Remove from oven. Seperate petpitas with fork while still warm. Cool.
