Homemade Hot Chocolate has never been easier or more delicious! Quickly made on the stovetop for hot chocolate in just a few minutes.

2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 cup granulated sugar
2 cups half and half
2 cups milk, divided
splash of vanilla

Steps:

  • Place the cocoa powder and sugar in a medium saucepan; mix together. Turn heat to medium-high. Mix in 1/2 cup milk (it's okay if the mixture is lumpy). Stir until mixture bubbles. Allow to boil for a minute or two, stirring continually, until no longer grainy. Mix in the remaining milk and half and half. Add the vanilla. Continue to stir until hot chocolate reaches desired warmness. Serve immediately.

1/8 teaspoon salt (pinch)
1/3 water
3 1/2 cups whole milk (can split amount with cream for richer flavor)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Mix cocoa, sugar and salt into a small bowl.
  • Put water in small pot to boil.
  • Once boiling, add cocoa mix and stir with whisk until well blended. When bubbly, continue to stir for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Slowly add in milk (or both milk and cream). Occasionally stir until milk is on the verge of boiling.
  • Stir in vanilla and remove from heat. Pour into your favorite cocoa mug! It may need time to cool. Enjoy!
  • **If there's extra, you can store in the fridge for 1-2 days. Just reheat and stir and will still be good!
