SIMPLE STEAMED GREEN BEANS
A simple and tasty side dish when fresh green beans are plentiful. Prep time doesn't include time to prep the beans before steaming.

Steps:
- Prepare green beans by snapping them or cutting them to approx 1 inch in length and rinsing them.
- Over a pot of boiling water, steam beans for 15-20 minutes (until just tender with a little"bite" to them; Also, to steam I use a covered colander over a Dutch oven filled 1/4th full with water) Remove steamed beans and turn into a serving bowl.
- Add all of the rest of the ingredients, seasoning to taste.
- Enjoy!

There's a kabob shop in Charlottesville, Virginia, called Sticks and it has wonderful sides, including sesame beans. I love them so much that I had to make my own version. You can use fresh or frozen green beans; haricots verts (French green beans) work well, too. I had always been indifferent to green beans... until I tried this recipe, given to me by a friend. For such a simple dish, you will be surprised at how much flavor this has! Broccoli is equally delicious prepared this way.

- Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add sesame seeds. When seeds start to darken, stir in green beans. Cook, stirring, until the beans turn bright green.
- Pour in chicken broth, salt and pepper. Cover and cook until beans are tender-crisp, about 10 minutes. Uncover and cook until liquid evaporates.

- Cook until tender, 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer to a bowl of ice water.
