We thought we were getting a treat when we woke up to the smell of these cooking. We didn't realize it was a cheap way for Mom to feed us breakfast!

Number Of Ingredients 10

Ingredients

1 egg
1/2 c milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1/3 c sugar
2 Tbsp melted shortening
powdered sugar
very large glass of cold milk

Steps:

1. Beat egg.
2. Add milk and vanilla.
3. Add rest of ingredients, shortening last.
4. Drop in hot oil (365 degrees) by teaspoonful.
5. Roll around while cooking (them, not you).
6. Remove when golden and drain on paper towels.
7. Roll THEM in powdered sugar while hot.
8. Don't eat too many!!!!

2 eggs, beaten
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
3 cups flour
4 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps:

Beat all ingredients to form a smooth batter.
Drop by teaspoons in hot fat. These little balls will end up in many shapes (some with tails; they turn themselves if you don't put them too close together).
Roll in powdered sugar.
