SPRING CELEBRATION BROWNIES

Jazz up brownies for spring with marshmallows and pretty pastels-super easy!

1 box (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Supreme original brownie mix
Water, vegetable oil and egg called for on brownie mix box
1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows
1/2 cup pastel-colored candy-coated chocolate candies
2 tablespoons semisweet or milk chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Grease bottom of 8-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray. Make and bake brownies as directed on box.
  • Sprinkle with marshmallows; bake about 5 minutes longer or until marshmallows are puffed and light golden brown. Sprinkle with candies. Cool completely on cooling rack, about 1 1/2 hours.
  • In small microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips uncovered on High 30 to 45 seconds, stirring half way through, until chips can be stirred smooth. Spoon into resealable food-storage plastic bag; partially seal bag. Cut small tip from corner of bag; drizzle over top. Refrigerate about 15 minutes or until chocolate is set. Cut into 4 rows by 4 rows.

Spring is the perfect time to get a little playful in the kitchen-everything is coming back to life outside, so it's time to liven up your baking as well! These cute-as-can-be brownies feature PEEPS® chicks frolicking in a field of Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy frosting, tinted green and applied with a grass piping tip. Add colorful candies like eggs and sprinkles to bring your blooming brownie meadow to life!

1 box (17.8 oz) Betty Crocker™ Supreme triple chunk brownie mix
Water, vegetable oil and egg called for on brownie mix box
1 cup Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy vanilla frosting (from 16-oz container)
Great Value™ classic green gel food color
16 PEEPS® brand marshmallow chicks
Great Value™ pastel-colored sprinkle mix, as desired
Assorted Easter candies (pastel candy-coated chocolate candies, pastel candy-coated chocolate eggs), as desired

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Line 9-inch square pan with foil, allowing some to hang over edges of pan. Spray bottom and sides of foil with cooking spray. Make brownie batter as directed on box; spread in pan.
  • Bake 28 to 31 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out almost clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour 30 minutes.
  • Using foil to lift, remove brownies from pan, and carefully peel away foil. Transfer brownies to serving platter. In small bowl, mix frosting and food color to desired color. Transfer frosting to decorating bag fitted with grass piping tip; pipe onto brownies.
  • Using photo as a guide, top with 5 PEEPS® chicks, spacing randomly across top. Add sprinkles and candies.
  • To serve, cut brownies into 4 rows by 4 rows; add remaining PEEPS® chicks so each brownie has a chick. Store loosely covered at room temperature.

1 box Betty Crocker™ fudge brownie mix
Water, vegetable oil and egg called for on brownie mix box
1/4 cup butter
2 cups miniature marshmallows
4 cups chow mein noodles
1/2 cup Mike and Ike® juniors candy (from 3.5-oz package) or your favorite miniature jelly beans
10 PEEPS® brand party cake flavored marshmallow chicks

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Line bottom of 13x9-inch pan with cooking parchment paper, and spray with cooking spray. Make and bake brownies as directed on box. Cool 30 minutes, then freeze in pan 1 hour. Using 3-inch round cutter, cut 10 brownie rounds.
  • In medium microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on High 30 seconds or until melted. Add marshmallows, and microwave in additional 30-second increments, stirring until combined and marshmallow mixture is melted. Add chow mein noodles; stir until coated. Working quickly with buttered hands, form about 1/2 cup mixture into a nest. Repeat for a total of 10 nests. Let stand 15 minutes.
  • Place 1 chow mein nest on top of each brownie round. Top each with candies and 1 PEEPS® chick.

1 cup pastel-colored chocolate candies
1/4 cup semisweet or milk chocolate chips
1/4 teaspoon shortening

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray or shortening. Make brownies as directed on box for 13x9-inch pan, using water, oil and eggs.
  • Bake 23 minutes. Sprinkle with marshmallows; bake 5 minutes longer or until marshmallows are puffed and golden. Sprinkle with candies.
  • In small microwavable bowl, microwave chips and shortening uncovered on High 15 seconds; stir. Drizzle over bars. Cool completely, about 1 hour. For easier cutting, use plastic knife dipped in hot water. For bars, cut into 6 rows by 4 rows.
