GREEN 'SUPERFOOD' POPCORN RECIPE



Green 'Superfood' Popcorn Recipe image

Your popcorn fix doesn't have to be an unhealthy one. Enjoy a green superfood makeover and eat all you want.

Number Of Ingredients 1

1 tablespoon ghee for popping 1/4 cup organic popcorn kernels 1/4 cup olive oil or ghee for coating 1/4 teaspoon pink Himalayan sea salt 2 teaspoons garlic powder Pinch of cayenne powder 1 teaspoon chlorella or spirulina 1/2 teaspoon reishi

Steps:

  • 1. Place the tablespoon of ghee in a large, lidded pot over medium heat and let it melt. 2. Add a few corn kernels and close the lid. Once they pop, add the rest of the popcorn. 3. Keep shaking and moving the pot a bit while the corn pops. Once the popping slows down, lower the heat while allowing any remaining kernels to pop. 4. While the corn is popping, heat the 1/4 cup of oil in a small pot. Remove from the heat and add the salt, garlic powder, and cayenne. Let cool slightly before adding the chlorella and reishi. 5. Transfer the oil mixture to a serving bowl. Pour in the popcorn and toss until it is coated and has a nice green color. 6. Eat up! A delicious way to get some health back into your body! You can buy spirulina at the health food store! Spike seasoning is delicous and can be found at the health food store also. Cook time is for microwaving popcorn.

Number Of Ingredients 5

10 ounces of pre- popped popcorn
3 -4 tablespoons nutritional yeast
2 teaspoons spike seasoning, powder
1 teaspoon garlic granules
1 -2 tablespoon spirulina powder

Steps:

  • Sprinkle all ingredients over popcorn in large bowl or large bag, then toss or shake until popcorn is nicely coated.
  • For some extra "kick", sprinkle a bit of chili powder onto the popcorn! Enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 tablespoons Olive Oil
1/4 cup Nutritional Yeast
1 tablespoon Spirulina
1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
1/2 teaspoon Curry Powder
1/2 teaspoon Dried Basil
1 dash Cayenne Powder
1 dash Sea Salt
1/2 cup Popcorn Kernels
1 scoop Coconut Oil

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine the olive, nutritional yeast, spirulina, garlic powder, turmeric, onion powder, curry powder, basil, cayenne, and some salt. Mix well and set aside.
  • Pour coconut oil into a large, deep pot. The oil should cover the bottom of the pot. Drop 3 kernels into the pot, cover, and turn the heat to medium-high.
  • Once the kernels have popped, add the rest of the kernels and remove from heat to shake and coat all kernels in the coconut oil.
  • Return the pot to the stove, over medium-high heat. Once the kernels begin to pop, shake the pot vigorously with the lid ajar until the pops start to slow (a couple of minutes).
  • Turn off the heat and pour the spirulina mixture over the popcorn. Mix well until the popcorn is evenly coated. Taste and add more salt as needed.
