SWEET & SPICY OVEN BAKED BACON

Sweet & Spicy Oven Baked Bacon image

Spicy Brown Sugar Bacon will add a delicious sweet and spicy twist to your breakfast! This oven baked bacon recipe is so easy and so tasty. The cayenne pepper and brown sugar creates the perfect flavor, but you can leave that out if you want and just start baking bacon in the oven for the best bacon ever!

Provided by Becky Hardin - The Cookie Rookie

Categories     Breakfast

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 lb. Bacon (I prefer thin slices, but use your favorite.)
3 tablespoons Dark Brown-Sugar
½ teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (or more if you want spicier)
½ teaspoon Black Pepper

Steps:

  • Mix together the brown sugar, cayenne pepper and black pepper, set aside.
  • DO NOT PREHEAT THE OVEN
  • Getting ready: Cover a rimmed cookie sheet with aluminum foil - cleaning up is much more fun this way. Spray cooling rack with cooking spray - for the same reason as above and set the rack on the cookie sheet. Ok, now you are ready to place the bacon on the rack.
  • Drape the bacon across the cooling rack with a little space between strips. If you need to cut some of the bacon in half to fill in the spaces, that is fine.
  • Place the bacon on your oven's middle rack and turn the oven to 375 degrees.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Take out the bacon, flip each slice over and sprinkle with the brown sugar mixture on each slice of bacon.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes more. Watch closely for the last 5 minutes - it can burn quickly.

Categories     side-dish

Time 50m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 4

3/4 cup light brown sugar
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
Freshly ground black pepper
1 pound thick-cut bacon

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Position racks in the top and bottom of the oven. Line 2 rimmed baking sheets with foil and set cooling racks into the baking sheets.
  • Using your fingers, crumble together the brown sugar, smoked paprika and several grinds of black pepper on a plate. Dredge the bacon on both sides in the brown sugar mixture, rubbing so the sugar adheres. Arrange the slices on the racks without touching.
  • Bake until the bacon is crisp and caramelized, flipping the slices and rotating the baking sheets from top to bottom halfway through, about 20 minutes total. Let the slices cool on the racks, turning once or twice so they don't stick.
