APPLESAUCE DOUGH CINNAMON ORNAMENT RECIPE
These ornaments smell so good that you'll want to eat them-- but resist. They don't taste very good, I can promise you that. This dough rolls out very easily, and the cinnamon dough ornaments will last for years.

Steps:
- 1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine cinnamon and cloves. Add the applesauce, essential oil, and glue.
- 2. Knead in bowl for a few minutes, until you have a firm, pliable dough. Add more cinnamon if the dough is too wet, more applesauce if it's too dry.
- 3. Dust your work surface with cinnamon (just as you would with flour for regular cookies). Roll the dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters, or press into a cookie mold. For molds, press dough into mold, smooth with rolling pin, remove, and cut away extra dough.
- 4. While still moist, cut a hole in the top of each ornament with the end of a straw for hanging. Place ornaments on paper towels and air dry for several days. Carefully flip them several times while drying so they won't bend or warp.
- 5. In a hurry? Instead of air drying, bake ornaments at 200 degrees F for about 3 hours, turning occasionally. Decorate!

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
- Mix the above 3 ingredients until combined thoroughly. I will add that the recipe calls for 4 cups of flour, but I probably had to add another 1/2 to 3/4 cups of flour to get a consistency that was pliable enough to roll with the rolling pin without being sticky.
- Roll out with rolling pin until it is about 1/4 in or less thick.
- FYI-depending on the size of the cookie cutter you may get more or less ornaments.
- Use cookie cutters to make individual ornaments.
- Place on cookie sheet, make a hole at the top for the ribbon to go through and bake for 2 hours at 200 degrees. Do not turn the ornaments over. However I do turn over once they are out of the oven so that the it dries completely.
- Once dried, paint and design as desired, place ribbon and hang on tree!

Steps:
- Mix in a bowl the cinnamon and cloves.
- Add to this applesauce, oil and the glue.
- Knead this mixture for a few minutes til you have a firm but pliable dough.
- Too wet, add more cinnamon--too dry, add more applesauce.
- Roll the dough out on a surface dusted with cinnamon, 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut out shapes with cookie cutters [x-mas tree, hearts, stars, etc].
- Make a hole in the top with a wooden or metal skewer, this must be large enough for ribbon if you want them for hanging.
- Air dry them for several days on paper kitchen towel, turning them over several times so they don't warp.
- Impatient?.
- A low oven [200°F] for a few hours will also do the trick, don't forget to turn them over.
- When dry, decorate with a ribbon.
- You can also use shallow plaster, cookie and candy molds, press the dough in the cavity, smooth with a rolling pin, ease out of the mold and cut away the excess dough.
- Or roll out the dough, place a piece of decorative lace on the top, using the rolling pin go over it until it has left an impression of the lace, then cut out using the cookie cutters.
- You also get a nice result using cookie stamps.
