Steps:
- Simmer the apple juice with the strips of orange peel, cinnamon stick and cloves for about 5-10 mins until all the flavours have infused. Sweeten to taste.
- Serve each drink with a little orange peel and a piece of cinnamon stick, if you like.

Place the cinnamon, cloves and allspice on a double thickness of cheesecloth; bring up corners of cloth and tie with string to form a bag. Add to the pan., Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 1 to 1-1/2 hours or until flavors are blended. Discard spice bag. Serve warm in mugs.

- Combine sugar and water in a saucepan; simmer over medium heat until sugar is dissolved, about 2 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat and stir Chinese five-spice powder into sugar mixture.
- Pierce each grape all the way through using a fork. Add grapes and sugar mixture to a resealable bag; refrigerate, turning every few hours, until grapes are marinated, about 24 hours.

It was cold the other morning and I wanted something different then the usual morning drink while I was posting recipes!!! LOL Anyway, I found this, from my mom, I think, and it is so good. SPICED CRAN-APPLE AND GRAPE CONSERVE
Faced with an abundance of grapes from my garden, I wound up using them in various ways. This conserve was an afterthought, but I received so many great compliments from family and friends that I made sure to write down the recipe. - Make a spice bag by placing cloves and allspice berries on a double thickness of cheesecloth. Gather corners of cloth to enclose seasonings; tie securely with string., In a stockpot, combine next six ingredients. Add spice bag. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until mixture begins to thicken, about 45 minutes. Add shredded apple; simmer until thickened, 35-45 minutes longer (mixture will thicken more after cooling). Discard spice bag., Carefully ladle hot mixture into 10 hot sterilized half-pint jars, leaving 1/4-in. headspace. Remove air bubbles and adjust headspace, if necessary, by adding hot mixture. Wipe rims. Center lids on jars; screw on bands until fingertip tight. , In batches, place jars into canner with simmering water, ensuring that they are completely covered with water. Bring to a boil; process for 5 minutes. Remove jars and cool.

This drink is a great alternative to hot apple cider. I've only had it once and got the recipe at Pleasant Union, one of the Shaker settlements here in Kentucky. The Shakers were wonderful cooks and most all of their recipes are deeelish.

- You will need 2 disks of prepared pie dough, you can't go wrong with my All Butter Vodka Dough Recipe. (This recipe makes 2 disks).If the dough is frozen, allow to thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Remove the dough disks from refrigerator and let it warm up for 10-15 minutes. Roll out the first disk onto a lightly floured surface about 11" round and 1/8" thick.Gently transfer the rolled dough into a 9" pan, leaving a 1"-2" overhang all the way around. Trim the edges and gather the scraps together, wrap scraps in plastic wrap and store in the fridge.Tuck the edge underneath itself to form a ring around the edge of the pie plate.Place the pie shell a lined baking sheet in the fridge and chill while you prepare the topping and filling.
- Roll the second dough disk into a round shape 1/4" - 1/8" thick. Using a straight edge and a pizza cutter or small knife, cut the dough into 1" - 1 1/2" wide strips. Transfer to a lined baking sheet. Gather the scraps together and cut out leaf shapes or make a little grape cluster if you'd like. Place on the lined baking sheet with the strips and chill while you prepare the filling. *If the dough is getting too soft, chill in the fridge for a few minutes to firm back up.
- Peel and core the apples, then cut into 1/8"- 1/4" slices. Place in a large mixing bowl and toss with grapes, orange zest & juice, sugar and spices. Set aside for at least 15 minutes so the juices begin to release from the fruit.
- In a small bowl, stir the tapioca starch together with a few tablespoons of the fruit juices to form a slurry. This will help thicken the filling so you don't end up with a soggy bottom pie. Then toss the slurry with the fruit.
