THE MOST AMAZING APPLE PIE RECIPE EVER
Steps:
- First, began by washing and peeling your apples.
- Then, you're going to squeeze half a lemon into your sliced apples, to keep them from turning brown. **Be sure to watch out for lemon seeds!**
- Next, you're going add in your 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, cut your 2 tablespoons of butter into little cubes, and add them into the bowl.
- Then, add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of vanilla flavoring or lemon flavoring and 3 tablespoons of flour.**Be sure to fold in your ingredients, and not stir because you don't want to break your apples.**
- I cooked my pie crust by itself in the oven for about to 10 minutes on 350 degrees. To ensure that the bottom layer of my pie crust was done.
- Now that my piece crust is finished I can begin, to fill it with the apple filling.
- Add your top layer of pie crust, score the top, and brush with melted butter. I also sprinkled a little brown and white sugar on top.
- Bake your pie for about 45 minutes on 350 degrees.

Steps:
- Peel, core and chop the apples into small pieces. Melt the butter in a 10-12 inch fry pan. Cook the apples over medium heat for about 15-20 minutes or until soft. Sprinkle with brown sugar, sugar, and lemon juice while they cook. Stir with a wooden spoon occasionally, making sure they do not burn.
- Dissolve the cornstarch in about 1/4 cup of cold water. Stir to combine.
- Pour in the cornstarch mixture once they are almost done and let cook to thicken the apples and juice.
- Remove from the heat and add the cinnamon, nutmeg and stir to combine. Let the pie filling cool completely.
- Roll out your biscuit dough or pie crust on a lightly floured surface, into 4-6 inch ovals, about 1/8-1/4-inch thick.
- Scoop about 1 tablespoon or so of the cooled pie filing in the center of each round.
- Fold over, lightly press down on the filling and the edges. (Lightly wet edges with water, using your fingertip if needed) Crimp the edges of the dough with a floured fork.
- Or cover the sheet pan loosely with plastic wrap and place into the freezer for later use.
- Place uncooked pies on a half-sheet pan which is lined with parchment paper. Place the entire tray into the refrigerator while the oil heats.
- Fill a fry pan with about 2-3 inches of canola oil. Heat the oil until very hot (about 370 to 375 degrees F).
- Place only a few hand pies in the hot oil at a time, as to not overcrowd the pan or let the oil cool. Fry until they are brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove from the hot oil and let drain on paper towels on a half-sheet pan. Sprinkle with granulated sugar or dust with powdered sugar while they are still warm.
- Or drizzle each hand pie with a simple glaze. Let dry slightly before handling.
- These are best served warm. Delicious served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzled with warm caramel sauce.

EASY APPLE BUTTER PIE

APPLE PIE CAKE
In addition to being a cute, seasonal garnish for this cake, the leaf-shaped pie crust cutouts also serve to drive home the apple pie theme. The leaves provide just the right amount of buttery, flakiness to the cake. There is no mistaking that this is cake is based on classic American apple pie.

Steps:
- Make the cutouts: Preheat the oven to 425˚ F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Stir together the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Unroll the pie dough and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar on top, pressing to adhere. Cut out about 20 leaf shapes using small cookie cutters. Arrange on the baking sheet and bake until golden, 8 to 10 minutes. Transfer to a rack and let cool.
- Make the cake: Reduce the oven temperature to 350˚ F; butter a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Whisk the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, allspice and baking soda in a medium bowl. Beat the butter and vegetable oil in a large bowl with a mixer on medium-high speed until combined. Beat in both sugars until light and fluffy, about 4 minutes. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then the vanilla. Reduce the mixer speed to low and beat in the flour mixture in three batches, alternating with the buttermilk in two batches. Increase the speed to medium high and beat until combined. Fold in the diced apples.
- Transfer the batter to the baking dish and spread in an even layer. Bake until golden, slightly risen and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 35 to 45 minutes. Transfer to a rack and let cool completely in the pan.
- Make the frosting: Set a heatproof bowl over a saucepan with 2 inches of barely simmering water. Add the brown sugar, egg whites and cinnamon to the bowl; stir with a rubber spatula until the sugar melts, about 8 minutes. (Pinch the mixture; it should feel smooth.) Remove the bowl from the pan and beat with a mixer on low speed until frothy. As the mixture begins to lighten in color, increase the speed to medium high and whip until stiff glossy peaks form. Beat in the butter 2 tablespoons at a time, making sure it is incorporated before adding more. (If the frosting separates, reduce the mixer to medium low and beat until it comes back together. If the frosting is soupy, refrigerate for 15 to 20 minutes, then continue beating.)
- Spread the frosting on the cake. Decorate with the leaf cutouts.

- Prepare the Crust: Using your fingers, mix together flour, butter, and salt in a large bowl until butter is well incorporated. Gradually sprinkle 2 to 4 tablespoons very cold water into mixture, kneading as you add water, until dough just comes together. (You may not need to add all the water.) Turn dough out onto a lightly floured work surface; knead until it forms a smooth ball, 2 to 3 times. Divide dough in half, and shape into 2 disks. Wrap each disk in plastic wrap; chill at least 2 hours or up to overnight.
- Unwrap 1 chilled dough disk, and place on a lightly floured work surface. Let stand at room temperature until slightly softened, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with flour; roll into a 12-inch circle. Carefully fit dough round into a 9-inch deep-dish glass pie plate, leaving a 1 1/2-inch overhang around edges. Refrigerate until ready to use.
- Prepare the Filling: Preheat oven to 425°F with oven rack in lowest position. Stir together apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl until apples are evenly coated. Spoon mixture into prepared piecrust; sprinkle mixture with butter.
- Unwrap remaining chilled pie dough disk, and place on a lightly floured work surface. Let stand at room temperature until slightly softened, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with flour; roll into a 12-inch circle. Cut into 12 (3/4-inch-wide) strips. (Discard remaining dough scraps, or use for another purpose.) Arrange strips in a lattice design over Filling; trim strips as needed to meet the bottom Crust overhang. Fold dough edges under, and crimp using your fingers or a fork.

- Combine 3/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, and 2 teaspoons tapioca in a large bowl, stirring well. Add apple slices; toss well. Set aside.
- Combine 3/4 cup sugar and 3/4 cup flour in a bowl, stirring well. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until crumbly. Set aside.
- Combine 1 cup flour, shortening, and salt with a pastry blender until crumbly. Sprinkle ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, evenly over surface; stir with a fork just until dry ingredients are moistened.
- Roll pastry to 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Fit into a 9-inch pieplate; trim off excess pastry along edges. Fold edges under, and crimp.
- Bake at 400° for 25 minutes. Shield pie from overbrowning by placing a square of aluminum foil lightly on pie. Bake 20 more minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
- Tips: The shortening-flour mixture for the pastry should resemble small peas, not cornmeal, for maximum flakiness. Be careful not to work the pastry mixture for the piecrust anymore than absolutely necessary to "gather" it together into a ball or it will be dense, tough, and lose its flakiness.
