BAKED SAGO PUDDING

Number Of Ingredients 7

400 ml milk
50 ml sago
butter or margarine for greasing
2 eggs
20-40 ml sugar
1 ml salt
5 ml vanilla essence

Steps:

  • 1. Measure out 100 ml milk into a measuring jug. Soak the sago in it for 1 hour. 2. Set the oven temperature to 150 °C. Grease a baking dish with butter or margarine. 3. Switch on the stove to medium heat and bring the remaining milk to the boil in the saucepan. Reduce the heat to low. 4. Stir the soaked sago into the hot milk with the wooden spoon. Let it boil for 5 minutes while stirring all the time. Switch off the heat. 5. Beat the eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla essence with the electric hand mixer in the mixing bowl. 6. Add the hot sago mixture to the beaten egg and sugar. 7. Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish. Place the dish in the centre of the oven pan. 8. Fill a water jug with hot water. Pour the water into the oven pan to a depth of 2 cm. 9. Ask a grownup to place the oven pan on the middle rack in the oven. 10. Bake for 45 minutes. Ask a grownup to help you remove the pudding from the oven. Switch off the oven. 11. 2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1/2 cup milk
1 cup superfine sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon apricot jam
1 1/3 cups cake flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch salt
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup orange juice or 1/2 cup sherry wine

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a small saucepan over low heat, melt 2 tablespoons butter or margarine together with vinegar and milk. Remove from heat, and set aside. Meanwhile, sift flour, baking soda, and salt together into a separate bowl.
  • Beat 1 cup sugar and eggs with an electric mixer on high speed until fluffy and light colored, about 5 minutes. Gradually mix in the apricot jam. Fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture alternately with warmed milk mixture using a spatula. Pour batter into a greased, 1 quart oven-proof baking dish.
  • Bake approximately 45 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Place cream, butter, 1/2 cup sugar, and water in a saucepan and stir over moderate heat until the butter has melted and sugar is dissolved. Do not allow the mixture to boil.
  • Remove pudding from the oven, pierce several times with a skewer or fork, and pour the hot cream mixture immediately over the pudding. Serve hot or cold.

2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
2 tablespoons apricot jam
2 cups milk
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 cup milk
½ cup butter or margarine
2 teaspoons vanilla

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Beat 2 cups sugar and eggs with an electric mixer in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Stir in the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, vinegar, and apricot jam. Pour in 2 cups of milk and stir until well combined. Spoon the batter into a greased, 2 quart oven-proof baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 70 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Pierce the baked pudding several times with a skewer or fork.
  • Place 1 cup sugar, water, 1 cup milk, butter, and vanilla in a saucepan and stir over medium heat. When the mixture comes to a boil remove it from the heat and slowly pour the mixture over the hot pudding. Serve warm.
