1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two cookie sheets.
  • In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In large bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in sour cream, lemon extract, and vanilla.
  • Reduce speed to low; beat in flour mixture just until blended.
  • Drop dough by rounded teaspoons, 1 inch apart, on prepared cookie sheets.
  • Bake until set and golden around edges, 10-12 minutes.
  • Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; with wide spatula, transfer cookie to wire racks to cool completely.

2 ¾ cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 ½ cups white sugar
1 cup butter
2 eggs
½ cup sour cream
½ teaspoon lemon extract
1 tablespoon white sugar
¼ cup chopped walnuts, or to taste
¼ cup raisins, or to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease baking sheets.
  • Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg together into a bowl.
  • Beat 1 1/2 cups sugar and butter together in a bowl using an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition; blend in sour cream and lemon extract. Gradually stir flour mixture into creamed butter mixture until dough is combined.
  • Drop dough by rounded tablespoons, about 3 inches apart, onto the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown around the edges, about 4 minutes. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon sugar over cookies; top with walnuts and raisins. Continue baking until bottoms of cookies begin to brown, 3 to 4 minutes more. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F(190 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  • Melt butter or margarine over low heat. In a separate bowl, beat together the eggs, sugar, sour cream, and vanilla. Mix in the melted butter and stir until well blended. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and nutmeg and add to egg mixture, stirring constantly. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheets, about 1 inch apart.

3 c sifted cake flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp ground cloves ( i use 1/4t)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 c shortening
2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs well beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
2/3 c sour cream
2 c raisins (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Measure the flour after you have sifted it. Then, sift flour, soda, spices and salt together.
  • 2. Cream shortening with sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.
  • 3. Add dry ingredients alternately with sour cream in small amounts. End with flour. Mix well.
  • 4. Drop from teaspoon onto greased baking sheets and bake in moderate oven (350 F) 12 minutes.

With clean beaters, beat egg whites on medium speed until stiff. Fold into batter., Pour into two greased and floured 9-in. round baking pans. Bake 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely., In a small heavy saucepan over low heat, combine brown sugar, egg whites, water and cream of tartar. With a hand mixer, beat on low speed 1 minute. Continue beating on low over low heat until frosting reaches 160°, about 20 minutes., Pour into a large bowl; add vanilla. Beat on high until stiff peaks form, about 7 minutes. Spread between layers and over top and sides of cake. Refrigerate leftovers.

1 large egg, room temperature
1/2 cup sour cream

FROSTING:
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
