Our family likes these breadsticks because they are soft and chewy. I like to make them when I am in a hurry because they rise quickly.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup warm water
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup oil
3 cups bread flour
2 1/2 teaspoons yeast

Steps:

  • Make dough using your favorite method- bread machine, mixer or by hand.
  • Roll out into a 10x12 inch rectangle.
  • Cut into strips about 3/4 inch wide.
  • Give each strip a twist and place on a greased cookie sheet.
  • Let rise for at least 20 minutes or more if you have time.
  • Bake at 375 for 10-15 minutes.
  • Brush with butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan cheese.

3/4 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
1/2 cup warm 2% milk (110° to 115°)
1/4 cup butter, softened
2 large eggs, room temperature, divided use
1 tablespoon sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
3-1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons cold water
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 tablespoon poppy seeds

Steps:

  • In a small skillet, saute onion in oil until tender; cool. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the milk, butter, 1 egg, sugar, salt and 1 cup flour. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in onion and enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. , Punch dough down. Let stand for 10 minutes. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide into 32 pieces. Shape each piece into an 8-in. rope. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise for 15 minutes. , Beat cold water and remaining egg; brush over breadsticks. Sprinkle half with sesame seeds and half with poppy seeds. Bake at 350° for 16-22 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 tablespoons butter
1-1/2 cups finely chopped onions (about 2 medium)
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1 loaf (1 pound) frozen bread dough, thawed
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, heat butter over medium heat. Add onions; cook and stir until tender. Stir in paprika; cool completely. , On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to a 16x14-in. rectangle. Spread onion mixture down 1 half of the rectangle. Fold dough lengthwise in half over onion mixture, forming a 16x7-in. rectangle; seal edges., Cut dough lengthwise into thirty-two 1/2-in.-thick strips. Twist each strip 2 or 3 times. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Cover with kitchen towels; let rise in a warm place until almost doubled, about 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°., Brush breadsticks with beaten egg; sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake 13-16 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.

1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons granulated sugar
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon kosher salt
¾ cup whole milk
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon parsley
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, (melted)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450°F
  • Combine dry ingredients and gradually add milk to form a soft dough (only use as much as you need).
  • Knead gently 3 or 4 times on a floured surface.
  • Roll out into a rectangle and cut into 12 sticks.
  • Put the melted butter into a large baking dish, and turn the bread-sticks to coat them with the butter.
  • Bake for 14 to 18 minutes, serve immediately

260 grams All purpose Flour/Plain flour/Bread flour (About 2 cups)
140 ml Water (1/2cup+1 1/2 tbsp)
1/2 tsp Instant Yeast (You can use same amount of Dry Yeast as well;make sure you activate the yeast prior to mixing with flour)
1 tbsp Sugar
22 grams Unsalted Butter/Melted Butter/Olive oil (1 1/2 tbsp)
3/4 tsp Salt
2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Garlic Powder

Steps:

  • 1.Prepare the dough.Mix together all the dry ingredients in a bowl.Add the butter and water into this and mix them together.Knead the dough for 6-8 minutes or if you are using a stand mixer,In the bowl of a standing mixer, combine the water, yeast, sugar, and butter. Add in the salt. Attach the dough hook to the mixer and begin to gradually add the flour on low speed. Increase speed to medium and knead the dough for about 7 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic.Roll the dough into a rectangular shape on a floured work surface.2.Divide and Shape the Breadsticks dough.Divide the rectangles into small strips (7 inch x 1 inch) and place on a non stick baking sheet or a baking sheet lined with a parchment paper.For Italian grissini style breadsticks, cut them into a finger sized strips and then pull and stretch to shape them into longer strips.3.Proofing the the breadsticks dough.Cover the baking sheet with a plastic film and let them rest for 90 minutes or until they are puffy.4.Bake the Breadsticks.Bake at 400 F for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.For Italian breadsticks bake at 375 F for 12-16 minutes or until golden brown.Remove from oven and immediately, brush with melted butter.
