4 ounces uncooked rice noodles or 4 ounces rice
2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce, divided
1 (1 lb) pork tenderloin, trimmed and thinly sliced
3/4 cup reduced-sodium fat-free chicken broth
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon honey
4 teaspoons dark sesame oil, divided
3 cups snow peas, trimmed (about 1/2 pound)
1/2 cup sliced red bell pepper
1 tablespoon bottled ground fresh ginger
1 teaspoon bottled minced garlic
1/2 cup chopped green onion

Steps:

  • Prepare rice noodles according to package directions, omitting salt and fat. Drain and keep warm.
  • Combine 1 tablespoon soy sauce and pork, tossing to coat. Set aside.
  • Combine remaining 1 tablespoon soy sauce, broth, hoisin, cornstarch, and honey in a medium bowl, stirring with a whisk until smooth.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon sesame oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add pork mixture to pan; sauté 3 minutes or until browned. Remove pork from pan.
  • Add remaining 1 teaspoon sesame oil to pan. Stir in peas, bell pepper, ginger, and garlic; sauté 30 seconds. Return pork mixture to pan; stir in broth mixture.
  • Simmer 2 minutes or until thick, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, and stir in green onions. Serve pork mixture over the noodles.

4 pork chops, thinly sliced
1 pound snow peas
1 1/2 cups water (divided)
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
2 tablespoons corn starch
2 tablespoons vegetable oil for frying

Steps:

  • Place a large skillet or frying pan on the stove over medium-high heat. Add the two tablespoons of vegetable oil.
  • When the oil is hot, add the sliced porked chops and stir fry for about five minutes, or until the pork is almost cooked through.
  • Add 1 1/4 cups of water, 1/4 cup soy sauce, and 3 tablespoons sugar.
  • Add the snow peas and ground ginger. Stir fry until pea pods are tender-crisp (about five minutes).
  • Mix the 2 tablespoons of corn starch with 1/4 cup of water. Pour over the pork and pea pods and stir continuously until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve with rice or Chinese noodles.

1 lb pork tenderloin, cut into thin strips
2 teaspoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 red onion, sliced thin (1 cup)
6 ounces snow peas, strings removed
1 (20 ounce) can diced pineapple, drained
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
6 tablespoons red wine vinegar
6 tablespoons orange juice
6 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons ketchup
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Make stir-fry sauce: combine ingredients in a bowl; set aside.
  • Toss the pork with the soy sauce.
  • Heat 2 teaspoons oil in a large nonstick skillet over high heat until just smoking.
  • Add in pork and cook, stirring occasionally and breaking up clumps, until lightly browned, about 3 minutes; transfer pork to a clean bowl.
  • Add 1 more tablespoon oil to the pan and return to high heat until shimmering.
  • Add in onion and snow peas; cook/stir until softened, about 3 minutes.
  • Add in pineapple and cook until warmed through.
  • Clear center of pan and add remaining 1 teaspoon oil, garlic, and ginger; cook, mashing garlic mixture into pan with back of spatula, until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  • Stir in cooked pork; whisk sauce to recombine, add it to the pan, and bring to a simmer.
  • Cook until sauce thickens, 1-2 minutes; serve immediately.

1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
2 tablespoons soya sauce
1 tablespoon sherry wine (don't use cooking sherry)
1 lb pork fillet, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons peanut oil
3/4 lb button mushroom, quartered
1/2 lb snow peas, trimmed
1/2 small red cabbage, trimmed & shredded (about 1 lb)
2 tablespoons water

Steps:

  • Mix the ginger, soya sauce and sherry in a medium bowl.
  • Add the pork to the bowl and stir to completely coat the pork.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour to marinade the pork.
  • Heat 2 teaspoons oil in a wok over high heat until hot, add half the pork and stir fry for several minutes until the pork is tender.
  • Remove pork from wok and set aside.
  • Repeat using another 2 teaspoons oil and remaining pork.
  • Remove pork from wok and set aside.
  • Heat the remaining oil in the wok and add the mushrooms, snow peas and red cabbage and stir fry for several minutes.
  • Add the water, cover and cook until the vegetables are just tender.
  • Add the pork to the wok and stir fry for several minutes or until heated through.
  • Serve with steamed or fried rice.
