4 lbs lean boneless chuck roast, trimmed
1 1/2 cups ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons prepared dijon-style mustard
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
12 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • In large bowl, combine ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire and liquid smoke.
  • Stir in salt, pepper and garlic powder.
  • Place chuck roast in a slow cooker.
  • Pour ketchup mixture over chuck roast, cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours.
  • Remove chuck roast from cooker, shred with a fork and return to slow cooker.
  • Stir meat to evenly coat with sauce; continue cooking approximately 1 hour.
  • Spoon meat onto toasted buns and top with additional barbecue sauce, as desired.

4-1/2 pounds ground beef
1-1/2 cups chopped onions
2-1/4 cups ketchup
3 tablespoons prepared mustard
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon pepper
18 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven, cook beef and onions until meat is no longer pink and onion is tender; drain. Stir in the ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper. Heat through. Serve on buns.

This is wonderful melt in your mouth Shredded beef! We always make more than enough and eat the leftovers for days. This is great for having a group of people over and letting them serve themselves form the crock pot. You can combine the ingredients in a ziploc bag and freeze ahead if you like.

2 -3 lbs roast (chuck or rump are my favorite)
1 (16 ounce) can of sweet baby ray's original barbecue sauce
2 minced garlic cloves
1 (12 ounce) can Coke (I use vanilla coke)
2 teaspoons onion salt
12 rolls or 12 French baguettes

Steps:

  • Put the chuck roast in the crock pot. pour the can of coke over the roast, sprinkle the onion salt on top of the roast add the minced garlic and then smother the whole thing with barbecue sauce.
  • Cook it on low for 8 - 10 hours. the meat will practically shred itself when you insert a fork into it. Just continue to move the fork around and mix the meat completely with the sauce.

  • 1. Place beef in a dutch oven. Combine all remaining ingredients except rolls. Pour over beef. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 5 hours, turning beef occasionally. shred beef with a fork. Serve on kaiser rools. Makes about 12 servings.

1 (2 1/2 to 3-pound) beef chuck pot roast, or other cut suitable for roasting
1 tablespoon garlic powder
Salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 cup barbecue sauce, divided
2 tablespoons hot sauce, divided
12 Kaiser rolls or crusty Italian rolls, sliced

Steps:

  • To cook en papillote (on the grill, enclosed in foil), preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  • Rinse beef to remove any unwanted smells, pat dry with paper toweling and season with garlic powder and salt and pepper, and set aside briefly. Make an oven pouch out of a 3 foot length of heavy duty foil by bringing the 2 ends to the center, folding the sides to seal, and leaving an opening at the top center through which to place the sauce and beef. Shake flour in the pouch to coat the inside. Sear all sides of beef on the grill, then put beef in pouch and pour 1/2 cup of the barbecue sauce and 1 tablespoon of the hot sauce over the meat (reserving the rest of the barbeque sauce and hot sauce). Seal the foil pouch by folding shut. Grill bagged beef directly on grill for about 30 minutes per pound. Ideally this should be cooked until fork tender, so that you can pull it apart with a fork.
  • Let beef rest 10 minutes before carving into thin slices, or pulling it apart with a fork. Heat the reserved barbeque sauce and hot sauce in a small saucepan. Then chop or shred the sliced beef and serve on Kaiser rolls or crusty Italian rolls. Spoon a bit of the extra sauce over the meat.

2 cups barbecue sauce
1 cup root beer
1 dash salt and pepper, if desired

Steps:

  • In 3-1/2 to 4 quart slow cooker, place beef. In 4-cup measuring cup or bowl, mix 1-1/2 cups of the barbecue sauce and the root beer; pour over beef.
  • Cover; cook on low heat setting 10 to 12 hours.
  • About 20 minutes before serving, remove beef from slow cooker; place on large plate. Pour juices from slow cooker into 12-inch skillet.
  • Cook over medium-high heat about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until juices are thickened and reduced to about 3 cups. Meanwhile, shred beef with 2 forks; return to slow cooker.
  • Stir remaining 1/2 cup barbecue sauce into reduced juices in skillet; pour over shredded beef in slow cooker. Stir in salt and pepper to taste. Spoon about 1/2 cup beef mixture into each bun.

1 boneless beef chuck roast (3 pounds)
1-1/2 cups ketchup
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon liquid smoke, optional
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
12 sandwich buns, split
Sliced onions, dill pickles and pickled jalapenos, optional

Steps:

  • Cut roast in half and place in a 3- or 4-qt. slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, liquid smoke if desired and seasonings. Pour over beef., Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until meat is tender. Remove meat; cool slightly. Skim fat from cooking liquid., Shred beef with two forks; return to the slow cooker.
