JR'S IRISH WHISKEY COCKTAIL



JR's Irish Whiskey Cocktail image

Irish whiskey, blended with citrus and hints of cherry, makes for a smooth sipping cocktail. Garnish with additional lemon and orange if desired.

1 lemon wedge
1 orange slice
1 fluid ounce Irish whiskey
½ fluid ounce amaretto liqueur
½ fluid ounce triple sec
1 dash bitters
1 ½ cups ice, divided

Steps:

  • Muddle lemon wedge and orange slice in a cocktail shaker. Add Irish whiskey, amaretto, triple sec, bitters, and 1 cup of ice. Close and shake 6 times.
  • Fill a rocks glass with remaining 1/2 cup of ice and strain cocktail on top.

Mezcal Mule image

Moscow mules are usually made with vodka, but by using mezcal instead, you get a slightly smoky twist. The smoky flavor is due to the underground ovens filled with volcanic rock, coal, and wood that are used to cook the agave to produce the mezcal. Use a good quality ginger beer, such as Fever Tree®.

1 cup ice, or as needed
½ medium lime
2 ounces mezcal
5 ounces ginger beer
1 piece candied ginger
1 lime wedge (optional)

Steps:

  • Fill a copper mule mug with ice. Squeeze the juice from 1/2 a lime into the mug. Add mezcal and top with ginger beer; stir to combine.
  • Garnish with the candied ginger and lime wedge.
