AMAZING GINGER-GARLIC STEAK MARINADE

Amazing Ginger-Garlic Steak Marinade image

This marinade tenderizes the steaks and makes them absolutely delicious. You won't need steak sauce for this one! I will sometimes use it on a big London broil which I'll slice against the grain. The result is tender and really delicious. I never measure anything for this. It's hard to mess up. Prep time doesn't include time marinating in the fridge.

Categories     Steak

Time 5m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 steaks, any cut
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup rice vinegar
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground ginger or 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Throw all ingredients in a Ziplock bag with your steaks.
  • Refrigerate overnight (tastes best), or for at least two hours.
  • Cook your steaks however you want.
  • Some people will probably scream unsanitary, but I like to boil down the marinade until it thickens in the same pan I cook my steaks in, and serve it as a pan sauce. I'm not dead yet!
  • Enjoy!

RIB EYE STEAKS WITH A SOY AND GINGER MARINADE

Rib Eye Steaks with a Soy and Ginger Marinade image

This is a great marinade for steaks, and is wonderful for beef strips for stir-frys.

Provided by William Anatooskin

Categories     World Cuisine Recipes     Asian

Time 1h20m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 9

½ cup soy sauce
¼ cup real maple syrup
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
1 teaspoon mustard powder
½ teaspoon sesame oil
¼ teaspoon hot pepper sauce
½ cup beer
4 (10 ounce) beef rib eye steaks

Steps:

  • In a medium size mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, garlic, ginger root, mustard powder, sesame oil, and Tabasco sauce; mix well to blend. Now add beer, and stir lightly to mix.
  • Prepare steaks by scoring any fatty outside areas on steak with a knife, (this prevents the steaks from curling when barbecuing). Place steaks in a casserole dish, and pour marinade over. Using a fork, punch holes in steaks so that the marinade penetrates into the steaks. Turn steaks over, and repeat punching holes.
  • Cover with clear wrap or foil, and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or longer. You can also refrigerate and marinate overnight.
  • Prepare and preheat barbecue to high heat. Place steaks directly on grill and sear one side for about 15 seconds. Turn steaks over and cook for about 5 minutes, then turn over and cook for another 5 minutes for medium-rare, depending on thickness. Test for doneness by cutting into the middle of the steak.

PERFECT SOY-GRILLED STEAK

Perfect Soy-Grilled Steak image

You may think you don't have the time to marinate meat before grilling it, but it's time-consuming only if you think a marinade has to tenderize. As far as I'm concerned, there are only two goals in marinating: to add flavor and to promote browning and crispness. Neither of these requires long soaking, although dunking the meat while the grill heats contributes to a slightly greater penetration of flavor. This marinade of soy sauce, ginger, garlic, honey and lime is ideal for steak, but it works beautifully with any tender meats like burgers, boneless chicken, tuna and swordfish, all of which can be turned in the sauce before putting them on the grill. Longer-cooking meats, like bone-in chicken, should be cooked within 10 minutes of doneness before basting with the sauce.

Time 30m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/4 cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon peeled and minced ginger
1/2 teaspoon peeled and minced garlic
1 tablespoon honey, molasses or hoisin sauce
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Juice of 1/2 lime
1 16- to 24-ounce boneless steak (rib-eye, skirt or strip), or one 24- to 32-ounce bone-in steak (rib-eye or T-bone)

Steps:

  • Start a charcoal or wood fire or heat a gas grill; the fire should be hot and the rack no more than 4 inches from the heat source. Mix together the first 6 ingredients; taste and add more of anything you like. Turn the steak in the sauce once or twice, then let sit in the sauce until the grill is hot.
  • Turn the steak one more time, then place on the grill; spoon any remaining sauce over it. For rare meat, grill about 3 minutes a side for steaks less than an inch thick. For larger or more done steak, increase the time slightly.

STEAK WITH GINGER BUTTER SAUCE

Steak With Ginger Butter Sauce image

An astonishingly good recipe for steak with butter, ginger and soy that Mark Bittman picked up from the New York chef Jean Georges Vongerichten and gave to The Times a few years later. It's simple and takes no time to make after work.

Provided by Mark Bittman

Categories     dinner, easy, quick, weeknight, times classics, main course

Time 10m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 to 1 1/2 pounds boneless top blade, sirloin or rib-eye, cut into 2 or 4 steaks 3/4 inch thick or less
1 1/2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon minced ginger
2 tablespoons soy sauce

Steps:

  • Heat a large, heavy skillet over medium-high heat until it begins to smoke. Add the steaks, and cook until nicely browned, 1 or 2 minutes. Turn, and brown the second side, another minute or two. Remove the skillet from the heat and the steaks to a plate.
  • When the skillet has cooled enough so that no smoke is rising, return it to medium heat. Add butter, and when it melts, add ginger. About 30 seconds later, add soy sauce and stir to blend. Return steaks to the skillet, along with any accumulated juices. Turn heat to medium, and cook the steaks a total of 4 minutes, turning 3 or 4 times. (If pan juices dry out, add a couple of tablespoons of water.) At this point, they will be medium-rare; cook a little longer if you like, and serve, with pan juices spooned over.

1 cup mirin
½ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
¼ bunch fresh cilantro, chopped
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger root

5 Skirt Steak Marinade Recipes image

These 5 skirt steak marinade recipes are freezer-friendly and quick and easy to prepare with a few pantry ingredients. They make the perfect steak marinades for grilling, sautéing, slow cooking, pressure cooking, meal prep, and more. You can use them for any type of steak, not just skirt steak!

Provided by Denise Browning

Categories     Main Course

Time 36m

Number Of Ingredients 35

1 lb skirt steak
½ cup olive oil
1 oz taco seasoning (1 bag)
¼ cup lime juice
1 lb skirt steak
½ cup red wine vinegar
¾ cup olive oil
1/3 cup chopped oregano
2 cups minced cilantro
1 cup minced parsley
1 red jalapeno
1 tsp salt
4 garlic cloves (minced)
A pinch of ground black pepper (optional)
1 lb skirt steak
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
¼ tsp red pepper flakes
2 garlic cloves (minced)
1 1/2 tbsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp salt
1 lb skirt steak
¼ cup soy sauce
¼ cup sesame oil
4 garlic cloves (minced)
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp ginger (minced or 1 tsp ground ginger)
2 tbsp scallion (minced (white part only) or green onions)
1 lb skirt steak
1/2 cup olive oil
¼ cup lemon juice
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika
4 garlic cloves (minced)
1 tsp za'atar

Steps:

  • Before starting, prepare the skirt steak. Place it on a cutting board, remove the top fat and silver skin, cover with a plastic sheet, and pound the meat with a kitchen hammer on both sides until it is about ¼-inch thick. Slice the steak into 3-4 pieces to fit in into the pan where it will cook.
  • Make the marinade: Simply mix the ingredients together in a sealable plastic bag and place the steak in it. Shake to combine!
  • Then, squeeze the bag to remove as much air as possible, seal, and let steak marinate at room temperature for 20 minutes maximum. If you marinate longer, the meat flavors will get lost.
  • Next, remove the steak from the bag and pat dry to remove excess moisture from the marinade so that the steak can properly sear and develop a nice brown crust.
  • To cook the skirt steak, heat a large cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat for about 3-5 minutes or until super hot and add the oil. It will shimmer! Place the steak(s) flat (do not overcrowd the pan), lower the heat to medium-high, and cook the steak for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until medium-rare.
  • Transfer the steak(s) to a plate and tent with foil. Let it rest for 3-5 minutes and squeeze the juice of a lime on top.
  • Cut into thin slices against the grain and enjoy with chimichurri sauce on top and/or another garnish of your choice such as pickled red onions, tortilla, cheese, etc.

  • Remove the steaks from refrigeration at least 15 minutes before grilling, discard the marinade. Place the steaks on the grill and cook 4-5 minutes until the meat is slightly charred. Turn the steaks over and cook for another 3-10 minutes depending on your preference. (Cooking times may vary depending on the heat of your grill and how you like your steak: rare, medium, well, etc. We prefer ours at the medium to medium well range; which is an internal temperature at around 150 degrees F.)
  • Allow the meat to rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow the juices to settle. If serving a crowd, I also like to slice the steaks and place on a platter to serve family style.
