Silver Loaf Cake Recipes

SILVER CAKE

Steps:

• Preheat oven to 350°.
• Grease bottom of 9x13 cake pan.
• Line with waxed paper; grease and flour waxed paper.
• Beat flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, shortening, 3/4 cup milk and vanilla until well blended.
• Beat in remaining milk and egg whites.
• Bake in prepared pans 30 minutes.
• Cool in pan on wire rack 10 minutes; transfer to rack; peel paper and finish cooling.
• Frost as desired.
• Or serve with fresh strawberries and cream.

GOLDEN LOAF CAKE

Steps:

• Sift together flour, salt and baking powder.
• Beat Crisco, vanilla, milk, sugar and egg yolks.
• Add dry ingredients mix until smooth.
• Add nuts and cherries.
• Pour into a greased loaf pan, bake at 350 for 1 hour.

• Beat together sugar, milk, Crisco and vanilla.
• Add dry ingredients, stir until blended.
• Beat egg whites until stiff, fold into mixture.
• Add nuts and chocolate chips.
• Pur into a greased loaf pan and bake at 350 for 1 hour.
