We've been making this recipe for over twenty years. It was a favorite potluck appetizer recipe shared by a previous co-worker.

2 cans shrimp
1 small onion, chopped fine
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, plus
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon horseradish
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 teaspoons dill weed

Steps:

  • Make one day ahead.
  • Let cream cheese rest at room temperature until soft.
  • Mash all ingredients together (a potato masher works great).
  • Chill before serving, at least one day.

This tasty spread, prepared with softened cream cheese, is a beautiful pale salmon color. A teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce provides just the right amount of zest.

1-1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon salt
Dash white pepper
1 can (6 ounces) small shrimp, rinsed and drained
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
Assorted crackers

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper until smooth. Fold in shrimp and onion. Refrigerate until serving. Serve with crackers.

Shrimp Surprise Spread - The Best Shrimp Dip Ever! This dip or spread is perfect for entertaining - especially on Game Day!

1 8 ounce package cream cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 4 ounce cans small shrimp, drained well
1 250ml jar seafood cocktail sauce
1 green bell pepper (diced)
4 green onions (diced)
1 large tomato (diced)
2 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese (mixed)
Two boxes of plain Ritz Crackers

Steps:

  • Beat together the cream cheese, sour cream and mayo until smooth and creamy. Spread out on a large plate with an edge or in a 9x13 pan.
  • Spread the seafood sauce over the cream cheese mixture gently.
  • Sprinkle the shrimp over top of the sauce in an even layer.
  • Layer the remaining ingredients however you like. I usually go green peppers, tomatoes, a little cheese, green onions and then the rest of the cheese.
  • Refrigerate until serving.
  • Serve with Ritz crackers for the BEST taste, but this also works with tortilla chips!

1 can (4 ounces) tiny shrimp, rinsed and drained
French bread baguette, sliced

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, ketchup, mayonnaise, onion, mustard and garlic salt. Stir in the shrimp. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Serve with baguette slices.

1/2 pound peeled and deveined frozen shrimp (any size), thawed
1/2 cup reduced-fat sour cream
1/2 cup light mayonnaise
2 scallions, coarsely chopped, plus more for garnish (optional)
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest, plus 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
Coarse salt and ground pepper
Crostini, crackers, or crudites, for serving

Steps:

  • Fit a large saucepan with a steamer basket, and fill with 1 inch water; cover and bring to a boil. Add shrimp; cover and cook, tossing once, until opaque throughout, 30 seconds to 4 minutes (depending on size of shrimp). Immediately transfer to a colander, and run under cold water to stop cooking. Pat shrimp dry with paper towels, then finely chop.
  • In a medium bowl, combine shrimp, sour cream, mayonnaise, scallions, parsley, and lemon zest and juice; season with salt and pepper. Refrigerate shrimp dip until chilled, at least 30 minutes (and up to 2 days). Serve shrimp dip garnished with scallions, if desired, alongside crostini, crackers, or crudites.

2 tablespoons Miracle Whip (fat free is fine)
1 tablespoon catsup
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
1 dash garlic powder (garlic salt fine)
1 (4 1/2 ounce) can shrimp, drain, rinse, chop
1/4 cup seeds removed cucumber, chopped fine
1 teaspoon finely chopped onion
melba toast, called for in the book
cracker

Steps:

  • I use my electric mini chopper for this prep.
  • Do all your chopping and add to your other ingredients mix very well.
  • can eat immediately, or chill.
  • I use chicken in biscuit crackers and wheat thins.
  • Melba is a really hard cracker its not easy to eat by some guests.
  • Pap and Gram prefer the softer crackers !
  • Bon appetite !
